* SpiritualAdaptation: "WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond" will be the closest we'll ever get to an animated adaption of "Spiderman 2099" with its premise of a rebellious young man from a dystopian cyberpunk future succeeding a popular animal-themed superhero.

* IAmNotShazam: Miguel is not actually named or even called "Spider-Man 2099", he is just referred to as Spider-Man who happens to be from the year 2099, long after Peter Parker has passed away.

** [[LegacyCharacter Vulture 2099]] is one of the vilest of villains Spidey had to face in the 2099 era. After saving Spider-Man from members of the [[PrivateMilitaryContractors Public Eye]], Vulture offers Spider-Man membership in his gang, the Freakers. However Spider-Man soon discovers that the Vulture is a [[ImAHumanitarian cannibal]]. Vulture killed the Public Eye officers chasing Spider-Man and cooked them up for dinner. Disgusted, Spider-Man refuses to join the Vulture's gang and Vulture attacks him. While Spider-Man is fighting Vulture, Spider-Man discovers Vulture's [[CannibalLarder meat locker]], containing several corpses on meat hooks that Vulture intended to eat later. After his initial defeat Vulture later returned and convinced a group of Thorites, a group that worships Thor to have a Spiderite, a group that worships Spider-Man burned alive. In his last appearance, Vulture discovers that Spider-Man is Miguel O'Hara and attempts to murder one of his friends. After Spider-Man foils Vulture, he sets off several bombs at the [[MegaCorp Alchemax]] building--Miguel is a high-level employee at Alchemax--intending to destroy it and not caring how many civilians are in the building.
** [[AxCrazy Kron Stone]] is the 2099 incarnation of Venom, the son of the equally-sociopathic Alchemax executive Tyler Stone, and a monster who plays a role in the origins of both the [[ComicBook/ThePunisher2099 2099 Punisher]] and the [[ComicBook/SpiderMan2099 2099 Spider-Man]]. Twisted since he was a kid, Kron was guilty of attempted murder in his youth, and graduated to slaughtering entire families at a time, even the kids, punishing random innocents to vent frustration about his own unhappy childhood. When put down by the Punisher, Jake Gallows--whose entire family Kron considered cheaper than one of his suits--Kron barely survived and bonded to the Venom symbiote, killing a random bum to disguise the corpse as his own. Taking the mantle of Venom, Kron attacked a hospital and attempted to kill his comatose father, killing dozens of innocents in the process, and takes the life of Miguel O'Hara's ex-lover Dana after forcing Miguel into a SadisticChoice involving Dana's life and his other girlfriend, Xina. Both Jake and Miguel [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse reject Kron's attempt to foist all the blame for his evil on his troubled childhood]], and beneath his excuses Kron is a savage who kills because he loves it.
