* EvilIsSexy: A violent sadistic psychopath that happens to wrestle in [[WalkingShirtlessScene basically his underwear]] (occasionally with an unbuttoned jacket) and has a many wardrobe malfunctions.

** Does Orton wrestle a [[BoringButPractical simplistic style]] because he's incapable of doing otherwise, or does he have a method to his madness and know ''exactly'' what he's doing?

** The Orton/Cena feud. While the matches are generally good, Cena and Orton don't have much chemistry on the stick. Their staredowns never matched Rock/Austin staredowns. (The absolute '''s i l e n c e''' during Cena and Orton's staredown in the 2011 Rumble is incredible.) It doesn't help that, unlike with Rock/Austin, the dynamic hasn't changed one bit over the years.

** His run in 2020, arguably the year everyone remembered why Randy Orton is considered a legend. His feud with Edge revitalized him, as it brought back this diabolical streak he has been missing for a while. What he's does to a lot of legends in WWE, just how ruthless he was, it led to everyone agreeing that Randy deserves another run as Champion, which also came to be when he defeated Drew McIntyre at Hell in a Cell the same year.

** A few fans believe that Cena's true {{Foil}} was Wrestling/CMPunk or, to a lesser extent, Wrestling/{{Edge}}. Randy's rivalry with Wrestling/{{Christian}} is regarded as the closest he ever came to a similar dynamic, but it never came to full fruition thanks to Christian being at the tail end of his career by that point.

** With Wrestling/TripleH and Wrestling/{{Batista}} in Evolution, a boatload of it with Wrestling/{{Edge}} in Rated-RKO, and with Wrestling/JohnCena pretty much any time they're within ten feet of each other.

** This served to make it even more impactful and shocking when he brought it back out for the first time in about ''seven years'' to beat Wrestling/{{Edge}} in 2020.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** The man has hypermobile shoulders, his pre-finishing ritual consists of punching the ground, and his finishing move consists of landing on his shoulders... Professional wrestlers lie somewhere between Hollywood Stuntmen and Crash Test Dummies on the injury scale. For anyone with a predisposition to injury, it's not the best idea.
** And then in 2010, Orton re-aggravates an injury while doing his pounding the mat routine, during a match on PPV no less.
** Regardless of people's very divisive opinions of Wrestling/KellyKelly, calling her out as basically a slut on a radio show ("There are a lot of guys in the back who have done some "method acting" with Kelly") was in pretty poor taste any way you slice it. Credit to Kelly who offered a terse Twitter response ("The best way to fight stupidity is to ignore it") and Orton who apologized the next day.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM76LtznNrc Voices]], his second theme. There's a good reason he's never had another one since, and it's that this song is downright ''iconic''.

** Most of the cases with John Cena would moreso be considered FoeYay.
