* UnintentionallySympathetic: A major factor to Sonata's popularity. The writers made her so likable as a comedic relief character that it becomes hard to dislike her as a villain, in contrast to the more traditionally evil Adagio and the apathetic Aria. It helps that she never does any intentionally cruel actions by herself, making it a bit too easy to assume she's only following the examples of Adagio and Aria.

** The introduction of the Dazzlings seems to have also been well accepted. While the first film had Sunset Shimmer as your typical AlphaBitch, these villains are clearly using evil magic on the students of Canterlot High and are that much more threatening for it.
** Fans have been opening up to the newly reformed Sunset Shimmer now that they not only see that her redemption is shown to be sincere, but that she would have to struggle with the ramifications of her actions in the previous movie.
** For those that didn't like the AntiClimaxBoss in the first film, will likely do this.

* MagnificentBitch: Adagio Dazzle is the leader of the Sirens and the brains behind everything they do. When they realize Equestrian magic has been brought into this world, Adagio plays a game of XanatosSpeedChess to locate the source of the magic in the Rainbooms and enflare tensions between them to make them fighting, letting the Sirens absorb their magic and regain their full powers. She balances this with using their singing to drive the school into a competitive frenzy, generating more and more energy for them to feed on while they await the Rainbooms giving into fighting. Along the way, save for frustration at her sisters Sonata and Aria, Adagio stays calm, confident, in-control, and always ready to twist an unexpected turn of events to their favor.

* FanPreferredCouple: Sunset×Twilight a.k.a. "Sunlight", was quite popular after the first movie, but got even more so after this one thanks to all the bonding they got. A lot of fans find their RomanticTwoGirlFriendship much more interesting than Twilight's barely there romance with Flash Sentry.

* Adorkable: Sonata Dusk. Yes, even for a villain, she gives off this vibe due to her ditziness, friendliness, and all-around cutesy nature. Of course, she still helps her friends carry out their EvilPlan, but she's still Adorkably Evil.
