He tried to get the Zeo Crystal once, and look what happened to Zeddy's face!" Zedd replies with an unamused "Very funny, Rita." This could act as a backstory for Zedd and why he looks like he does, but fans are strongly divided on whether or not Rita was making light of an event that actually happened, or if she just made the whole thing up to be an ass.

* UnfortunateCharacterDesign: Tommy as the White Ninja Ranger looks an awful lot like a klansman.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: The Dark Rangers at the end of ''Green No More Part 2''- They were a group of arrogant, desrespectful delinquents who harassed everyone within speaking distance, claimed that Angel Grove [[SmugSnake "belonged to them now"]] and were chosen to be Lord Zedd's Dark Rangers [[JerkAss due to their lack of any redeaming qualities]], but after they're set free from Zedd's control, Kimberly ties to invoke sympathy for them by suggesting that each of them is a MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold who "just need some friends". This line of thinking would have made sense for a single social outcast, but considering that [[GangOfBullies it's a group of people who were high-fiving each other every five seconds and had been antagonising innocent people left, right and center]] ever since they arrived, it just seems like an AssPull and a rushed way of resolving the conflict.

* {{Fanon}}: Since David Yost has come out as gay, many fans like to believe the character he played, Billy, was also secretly gay. Some even cite his preponderance of one-shot female love interests as evidence towards this, as Billy never had any sort of long or even short-term girlfriend. Though Creator/DavidYost disputes this interpretation stating on Twitter “Billy’s a ladies man, I’m not”, and ultimately ''Film/PowerRangersOnceAndAlways'' would imply Billy is still with Cestria.

** The fact that Tommy Is SparedByAdaptation compared to Burai from Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger became this given both of Burai's actors would outlive Creator/JasonDavidFrank.

** Creator/JasonDavidFrank recounted in an interview that when he signed onto the show he was warned that Tommy would only be a GuestStarPartyMember and this wouldn't be a huge career opportunity. Tommy Oliver would end up becoming '''the''' breakout character having the longest tenure of any Ranger, remaining a part of the show until halfway into ''Series/PowerRangersTurbo'' Furthermore, Frank would return another seven years later to act as the mentor in ''Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder''. So much for the role being temporary!
