* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Casey's desire to give up going to an ''Ivy League school'' to focus on ice-skating can come off as this to some, especially considering most ice skaters are considered washed-up and ready to retire by the time they're the ripe old age of 30, whereas a physicist she would have career opportunities and ways to advance for her entire life. Her mother points out a lot of [[JerkassHasAPoint the downfalls]] of making professional ice-skating her career but just gets brushed off with talk of how this is Casey's dream and passion, despite only having skated professionally for a short period of time.

Moving to the main page.

Added DiffLines:

* HollywoodHomely: Casey is repeatedly shown as being a nerd who isn't supposed to be as beautiful as the glamorous ice-skaters. In truth, she's very pretty, and it's more her awkward nature that keeps her from appearing prettier than she actually is. Lampshaded by Gen when she [[BeautifulAllAlong just has Casey shake out her hair]] to make her look appropriate for a party.

Added DiffLines:

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Tina's backstory of injuring another skater so badly she couldn't compete anymore and Casey's mother's admission of having been an ice skater herself once upon a time seem like they're going collide for TheReveal that her mother ''was'' the skater who got injured, thus explaining her reluctance to let Casey skate, afraid she'll get hurt as well. But the film doesn't make the obvious connection and so the two plot threads are left as separate instances.

** Gen. [[BitchAlert Her first couple of scenes don't seem to be heading in this direction]], but once she shows a warmer side of her personality, it's easy to feel warm and attached toward her as she starts acting like a CoolBigSis to Casey and shows some range in chafing under the demands of her StageMom.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: When Disney's promotional department created the theater poster for the film -- the one showing two different images of Casey standing back-to-back -- did it never actually send up any red flags to anyone that it might get recognized as being uncomfortably similar to the poster for [[https://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BNzk4MmZmODgtNzNjMi00ZTQyLWEwZjgtMzI3NjRlNTA2MWZmXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNzc5MjA3OA@@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,670,1000_AL_.jpg this obscure 80's movie, titled "Angel"]]?

** Although let's be totally honest here, the idea of a movie poster showing two opposing "personalities" standing back-to-back is hardly an uncommon one. The only thing that would link these particular poster ideas together is that the back-to-back happens to be of the same person.
** Also (almost crossing over into NoCelebritiesWereHarmed) Tina Harwood is an ex-professional competitive skater who was banned from competing after an incident which involved injuring another skater.
