* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: In the final few pages of the final issue, is Gert [[spoiler:saying "Fuck Fairyland" as a way of coping with how much her normal world life sucks and masking her desire to return? Or is it her realizing it doesn't matter if she's in the human world or Fairyland, life would still suck, just in different ways regardless?]]

* FridgeLogic: An example in issue #13. Larry dreams of what his life would be like without Gertrude and we see that she was his first assignment. But, in the dream Gertrude is killed by the portal in the floor and Happy is Larry's first assignment, instead. Except, that isn't possible. It could just be Larry combining recent events in his mind, but he was with Gertrude for 27 years when they met Happy. If Gertrude was killed by the portal in her floor, Happy couldn't have been Larry's replacement assignment, she wouldn't have been born, yet.

* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: [[spoiler:The decision to kill off Adult Gert in Issue #7 of the official 2022 {{Revival}} and replacing her with a [[FishOutOfTemporalWater time-displaced]] child version of herself has not been a popular one with most readers. Not only does this retroactively turn the original series into a case of ShootTheShaggyDog, the new Gert and her rudderless attempts to escape Fairyland while causing wanton mayhem in the process effectively squanders any and all plot developments set by the {{Revival}} in favor of [[StatusQuoIsGod sticking to the same status quo.]]]]

* ClicheStorm: The series uses a lot of FracturedFairyTale and SubvertedKidsShow tropes, but doesn't really do anything new with them, with a standard UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist causing a typical [[GrossoutShow gross]] and [[BloodyHilarious gory]] SugarApocalypse already depicted in works like ''WebAnimation/HappyTreeFriends'' and ''WesternAnimation/Shrek1''.

The revival offers a twist on the matter with a version of Gert who's had to readjust to the real world after spending most of her life in the fantasy land, [[spoiler:and then squanders it when a child version of her kills the adult one and takes over as the main character]].
