** A lot of this comes from just how loyal it is to the rules of the series. Everything from how one becomes an Immortal, to The Buzz when they near another, to rules like holy ground being sacred and only one to a fight, are all strictly honored by the filmmakers. Not to mention the animated medium really showing just how far removed from mortals Immortals are for the very first time, something the franchise's last attempt at animation failed to take advantage of. The only major exception is having Marcus and his lover team up in harmony without coming to blows over the Prize, and every installment after the first film eventually had Immortals doing that in some form or other two.

* Anvilicious: The film's view of revenge is blatantly one-sided to the point of being cliché and fails to consider that sometimes, it's justified.

Evil Is Sexy is now disambiguated.

* EvilIsSexy: Being immortals neither Marcus or Kyala have much need for protection against the elements, so they casually go bare-chested and stripperiffic respectively throughout the film, though both wore more concealing clothing in ages past. This being anime both are, of course, extremely attractive no matter their attire anyway.

When he takes over a future New York, Marcus unleashes a virus with an 80 percent kill rate to keep the population in line, and when they resist his rule with Colin, opts for some "creative brutality" in sending his forces to decimate the remaining population while planning on unleashing an even deadlier strain of the virus to kill every living thing in New York before he finally takes Colin's head.

* ProtagonistCenteredMorality: For all the film's posturing about Colin being selfish for being obsessed with revenge; it glosses over the fact that Moya betrayed his trust by drugging him, offering herself as a bribe to Marcus, and then strong-arming him into promising not to seek revenge despite the fact that she caused all of it through her own selfishness.
