Fans of Creator/MaddieBlaustein were very angry to see her ignored for her long-running role as Meowth in ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries''. Judging by the tags under the show's name, many people there don't like it either. Either way, it can't decide whether to appeal to ''that'' crowd or sitcom fans, hence the confusion and backlash.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Shona's rant about Website/{{Twitter}} names, jobs, and diet soda at the beginning made her sound like a disillusioned kid who has no real world problems which shows the worst stereotypes of Millennials who spend their time on Website/{{Tumblr}} right off the bat. Was there any wonder why so many people jumped down on this show's throat before it was even released?

And, much like WesternAnimation/TheEmojiMovie, its embraces the worst stereotypes about its subject matter and audience and markets them to its subject matter thinking they are entirely true without any hint of self awareness.

** [[FreezeFrameBonus If you haven't noticed it the first time]], just look at the poster Shona is putting up on the bedroom wall.
** The only straight white male (Huey) being portrayed as angry and offensive might've become this but some point out that it's a subversion. Compared to his one-dimensional friends, he's the most rounded and relatable character out of everyone. That and his dialogues, while [[CrossesTheLineTwice crossing the line]] are {{actually pretty funny}}.
