* HarsherInHindsight: Seeing Creator/NoelClarke and Creator/SophiaMyles together in this episode becomes this given that Myles declared Clarke was "not a sexual predator" despite the fact that 26 women had come forward with allegations of sexual harassment, verbal abuse and bullying.

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

* UncannyValley: The Clockwork Robots are supposed to be in disguise as humans. However, the constant loud ticking they make, their MachineMonotone voices and their stiff and inhuman movements give them away almost instantly.

* WhatAnIdiot: At the end, the Doctor wants Reinette to come with him. However, the time window into her time forces her to take "the slow path" to his next visit.\\
'''You'd Expect''': He'd either bring her through the time window to avoid the problem, or he would use the TARDIS to get her.\\
'''Instead''': He tells her she has two minutes. Two minutes later, he goes back through the time window, but it's been several years in her time, and she's dead by the time he shows up.

* AngstWhatAngst: While the episode appears to follow immediately from "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS28E3SchoolReunion School Reunion]]", Creator/StevenMoffat says in the DVDCommentary that when he wrote the script he had not yet read the ending, hence the lack of Rose's continuing animosity shown towards Mickey after he joins the TARDIS crew.

* BizarroEpisode: Even by Doctor Who standards. The Doctor rides a horse through a portal in time in a mirror linking a spaceship to a girl 3000 years in the past (who he read the mind of, incidentally) because an army of robots want to steal her brain because the ship is named after her. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And there's a rotating fireplace.]]
* HilariousInHindsight / MemeticMutation: "You're Mr. Thick Thickity Thick-Face from Thick Town, Thickainia... and so's your dad!" At the time of the episode airing, the Doctor calling the robot "thick" meant that he was calling the robot stupid (as in, "thick-headed"). The repeated use of the word "thick" to the point of OverlyLongGag was simply [[BewareTheSillyOnes the Doctor being silly, as he often is.]] However, as of the latter half of the TheNewTens in RealLife, "thicc" has become a widespread meme about expressing sexual attraction to someone with HartmanHips. Taken in the context of "thicc" and not "thick", it would appear that the Doctor is very sexually attracted to both the robot and his dad, and [[AppealToFlattery being overly complimentary of their]] HartmanHips.

The Doctor later used telepathy in Journey's End, The Big Bang, The Lodger, and Heaven Sent among other stories. The hypnotic abilities of the Doctor and the Master can be inferred to be telepathic. It's also implied that at least some Gallifreyans have telepathy, Susan for one, otherwise there's a question of how Time Lords use telepathic tenchnology in their TARDI Ss.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The Doctor uses ''telepathy''. This is power is never brought up again after this episode.

* IdiotPlot: The Doctor's solution to clockwork droids attacking Madame De Pompadour is to ride a horse through one of the time windows, breaking the connection to the ship in the future. He then engages in TalkingTheMonsterToDeath. However he is left trapped thousands of years from his companions and the TARDIS and it is only some flimsy writing that lets him get back. It doesn't occur to him to find some other way to disrupt the time window (if smashing them can break them then it shouldn't be too difficult). This could be justified by him wanting to convince the droids to shut down but couldn't he have used the TARDIS to get there? Even if he doesn't want the droids to know about the TARDIS he could just materialise in another room a few minutes before the connection is broken. Creator/DavidTennant actually pointed this out during recording and a line about not being able to use the TARDIS because they're part of events was hastily inserted, even though this is never a problem in any other story.
