Starting out as a couple of concepts of Sojiro and Futaba Sakura with their ages and positions reversed, the concept got a lot of positive attention from the fandom and quickly grew into a more fully realized concept, with Scruffy himself admitting that he plans to make it into a full-fledged webcomic. * CaptainErsatz: Hifumi’s husband is clearly [[Manga/YuGiOh Seto Kaiba]], with [[{{Spoonerism}} only the first letters in his name swapped]].

* CodeName: The Phantom Thieves, as usual. Sojiro is "Boss", Iwai is "Gecko", Kawakami is "Madame", Ohya is "Scout", Takemi is "Doc", Yoshida is "Titan", Chihaya is "Sibyl", and Sae is "Ace". Also, Shido is “Swan”, and Takuto is “Rook”.

** This is also the case for [[spoiler:Kunikazu. He’s so grateful for Haru that he’s willing to defend her in the face of the rumors surrounding her and Okumura Foods.]]

* OriginalCharacter: While the original cast of the game do appear here one way or another, there’s also a few new additions:
** Rika Sakamoto, Ryuji’s baby daughter. Her mother could also be one, since there’s no indication she was a canon character.
** Hifumi’s family, featuring her husband Keto Saiba, and their children: Ryoma, Tomoe, and Nobunaga.

** Undoubtedly the case for Kamoshida. Here, he’s a student rather than a teacher, but that doesn’t make him any less of the scumbag we have come to despise in the game.
** This is also the case for Shido, who is just as despicable as he was in canon. It’s implied that he’s also manipulating ''his own father'' to go along with whatever he has planned here.
* TemptingFate: [[https://mobile.twitter.com/ScruffyTurtles/status/1037172386943008768 One comic]] has AU!Shido making of fun of AU!Sojiro’s main counterpart only to stop laughing after one good look at his [[BaldOfEvil canon self]].

* AbusiveParent: In a flip of their canon dynamic, Shido's words to canon Akechi (and the fact that he's tearing up from his NoHoldsBarredBeatdown) implies that ACAU Goro is at least physically abusive.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Inverted by the original teen characters; the adult protagonists are all fairly well-adjusted adults, and while Shiho had her teaching career ruined by Kamoshida, she has recovered and is currently a successful fitness trainer who is dating Ann.

** In the entry introducing [[spoiler: the verse's version of Lavenza]], she picks Sojiro up and he asks if he weighs anything to her. She says no, [[Series/BrooklynNineNine it's like picking up a bunch of grapes]].

* ShoutOut: Nobunaga's hair ornament is shaped like the logo of the [[UsefulNotes/FightingGameCommunity Evo Championship Series]].

* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Futaba tends to embarrass Sojiro in various ways -- for example, gifting him 30 gigs of her personal {{hentai}} collection for his birthday because she figured [[ADateWithRosiePalms he'd need it at his age.]]

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: At one point, Ohya spies on the guys in a hot steam bath. Iwai beans her in the head with a bucket, and all she gets from Kawakami is a "Serves you right!"

* TheBet: Ohya makes one with the boys during the [[BeachEpisode Hawaii trip]] that leads to the ACAU's version of "[[MythologyGag Operation Babe-Hunt]]"; Sojiro, Iwai, and Yoshida had to get one girl's phone number each, with the losing party having to treat the other to a food truck feast out of their own pocket. Despite banking on the language barrier and their character flaws stopping them, Ohya loses. ''[[EpicFail Badly.]]'' [[note]]Sojiro picked up some English from Futaba and got five phone numbers by mingling with his Max Charm. Iwai got bumped into by a skeevy jerk who was harassing two girls, and got both's numbers out of gratitude when he instinctively [[WrestlerInAllOfUs suplexed]] the guy. And socially-awkward Yoshida gave a heartfelt RousingSpeech to some dejected hula girls who had just lost a competition, coming back with ''[[UpToEleven twenty]]'' numbers.[[/note]]

* BustChart: Scruffy uploaded a bust chart of a female characters with Kawakami being the biggest and Ohya being the smallest.

* RelatedDifferentlyInTheAdaptation: Kunikazu and Haru. In the original game, Kunikazu was Haru’s biological father. While Haru is his mother in this AU, he was adopted instead of being related by blood.
