The universe of the comic takes root in Christian mythology, draws inspiration from many religions and myths and stays true to none of them.

* EmotionEater: Soul Vampires can strength by leeching someone else's virtue or sin off of them. This causes a lot of trouble for Heaven, since if one takes enough of someone's sin (so they, despising Heaven a lot, can go to Hell, escape their personal Hell, and become a devil rather than risk becoming an angel) that means that the remaining virtue is stronger and they could go to Heaven even if they were a mass murdering sociopath. The problem with a good person going to Hell because their virtue was stolen is also a concern.
