* ObviouslyEvil: Dodon Pa in ''Team Sonic Racing''. The cast are constantly muttering that they don't trust him... while continuing to compete on his deadly race tracks anyway.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Princess Sara undergoes this in the OVA parody. In the original, she was hot-headed and got along well with Robotnik, but was still a good person and was horrified by the thought of [[AndNowYouMustMarryMe Robotnik marrying her]]. Here, she seems to undergo StockholmSyndrome to the extent that she becomes a bigger threat than Robotnik, especially after [[ItMakesSenseInContext she divorces him and takes half his weapons of mass destruction]] at the end.

* DesignatedVillain: [[invoked]] In ''Sonic Forces in minutes'', after Eggman takes over the world, he actually makes it a better place. Sonic still acts like Eggman is doing terrible things and needs to be stopped. This is PlayedForLaughs, of course. Later Subverted, however, as Blaze exposes his corruption to everyone, and future episodes show that the world is actually worse under [[TheCaligula Eggman]].

* {{Snowclone}}: Each episode's title takes the form "Sonic [game] in X minutes". Some of the later editions subvert it or play with it.

** "''Sonic 3 and Knuckles''": Sonic trying to use something (rope swing, dash pad, etc), only for Tails to use it before he can do so. The payoff comes in Sky Sanctuary, when Metal Sonic tries to jump into the Egg-O-Matic, only for [[VideoGame/SonicR Tails Doll]] to jump in first and fly off with it.

* {{Snowclone}}: Each episode's title takes the form "Sonic [game] in X minutes". Until the later editions started to subvert it.

** During the adaption of "''Sonic CD''", Sonic manages to jump so high off of a ramp in Collision Chaos [[GravityScrew that he actually leaves Little Planet's gravitational field]], [[GravityIsAHarshMistress tossing himself all the way back to where he started on the mainland.]] This comes back in reverse in his adaptation of "''Sonic Mania''", where Sonic and friends chase Heavy Rider up the chains to Little Planet until gravity abruptly flips, sending them all plummeting into Stardust Speedway.

What happens when you take the ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' franchise, cover it in StylisticSuck, and throw in lots of zany, irreverent humour [[BetterThanABareBulb and a whole lot of lampshades]]? You get ''Sonic in X Minutes'', a series of parodies by Roger van der Weide of ''WebAnimation/KingdumbHearts'' fame. It's effectively TheAbridgedSeries of the entire Sonic franchise, with each instalment lampooning an individual Sonic game within a given number of minutes (until the later instalments, when the length constraints were done away with). The first one, parodying ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'', was released in 2004, and since then almost every post-''Adventure'' Sonic game has been parodied, as well as ''VideoGame/SonicCD'', [[Anime/SonicTheHedgehogTheMovie the 1996 OVA]], and [[Film/SonicTheHedgehog2020 the 2020 movie]].

* CrackPairing: Lampshaded during ''Adventure 2''. Amy glomping Sonic, and Rouge dragging Shadow away from Amy, are greeted by crowds of cheering shippers, but Eggman mockingly referring to Amy as Tails' "girlfriend" is greeted by a lone shipper whose cheer is lame in comparison.

* DisproportionateRetribution: In the movie parody, an echidna attacks Sonic and Longclaw, killing the latter and forcing the former into exile, purely because Sonic ''stole his flower''.

* DumbMuscle: Knuckles is depicted as such in "''Rivals''", and it caught on to the extent that it's become Roger's default characterization for the entire echidna race.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfLoading: Naturally, "''[[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 Sonic '06]]''" parodies this, along with the infamous guard puzzle, by inserting a brief loading screen between ''almost every line of dialogue''. Eventually Knuckles gets so fed up that he ''rips away the loading screen and beats the guard senseless with it''.
* LongRunner: Roger started making the parodies in 2004 and is still going sixteen years later.

* MamaBear: Amy in "''Adventure''", dialled up. When Zero kidnaps Birdie and then insults her parenting skills, she literally ''roars'' with anger and smashes him to pieces with her hammer.

* ObviouslyEvil: Dodon Pa in ''Team Sonic Racing''. The cast are constantly muttering that they don't trust him... while continuing to participate in his deadly racetracks anyway.
* NeverRecycleYourSchemes: Averted in "''Riders''". When Eggman is pondering what to do next, one of his minions reminds him of the time he tricked a bunch of bank security guards into entering a kart race in exchange for them turning off all the security, allowing Eggman to waltz in and steal all the money while the guards were otherwise occupied. He duly decides to pull the same trick again, throwing an Extreme Gear race in exchange for everyone giving him their Chaos Emeralds. It works just as well as it did the first time.

* ReasonableRequestRejected: In ''Sonic Forces in minutes Part 2," a newsanchor asks a bear named Mrs. Brown if she has any questions about the oppressive [[BigBrotherIsWatching Eggman Empire]]. Mrs. Brown asks why she should worship Eggman, and what Eggman has done for her. The news anchor says that's a good question, and then it cuts to Mrs. Brown being [[UnwillingRoboticization roboticized]].

* RogerRabbitEffect: "Sonic 3 in 4 Minutes" features a scene where Knuckles punches Sonic and Tails out of the UsefulNotes/SegaSaturn playing ''VideoGame/SonicJam'' and into the real world, then punches the Saturn and the game so they can't get back in. * SidetrackedByTheGoldSaucer: Parodied in ''Rivals'', as Eggman Nega's race is interrupted within seconds when Sonic finds a collectable card.

* TakeThatScrappy: A recurring element of the series. Roger is not afraid to take it out on characters he hates.
** [[Anime/SonicX Chris Thorndyke]] shows up in "''Riders''" and "''Battle''" for the sole purpose of having the crap beaten out of him. If Roger's hatred of Chris wasn't obvious enough, he created a short Flash game based on the latter parody, called "''[[http://rogerregorroger.deviantart.com/art/Punchbag-the-game-28727161 Punchbag the game!!]]''". The object of the game? Beat up Chris to your heart's content.
** Big gets this treatment in pretty much every one of his appearances. DoubleSubverted in "''Adventure''" where he's depicted as a sophisticated, intelligent zoologist, only for the GUN commander to treat him like the Froggy-obsessed moron he's usually depicted as and throw him out before he can actually tell his side of the story.
** "''Rush Adventure''" gives Marine this treatment, with Sonic and Blaze pushing her around for the entire episode, only to subvert it in the ending by having Marine [[TookALevelInBadass take a level in badass]] and get her own back on them.
** Amy is a borderline example, due to her consistent portrayal as an AxCrazy, Sonic-obsessed {{Yandere}}. Even in "''Adventure 2''", where a crowd labelled "Amy haters" cheers when Eggman threatens Amy's life, she isn't treated with anywhere near the level of vitriol that Big or Chris got.
** "''London Olympics''" targets no less than three Scrappys: Toad, Omochao, and Bowser Jr. While Toad and Omochao have leading roles in the plot, Bowser Jr. (much like Chris Thorndyke) shows up for the sole purpose of being brutally killed to demonstrate how much Roger hates him.
** The Deadly Six in ''Lost World'' get this in a more subtle way, as they have even fewer frames of animation than the rest of the cast, and their exit is just a lazy rotation effect into the background. They also never get any lines beyond Zomom's occasional "sandwich". Zavok's recurring appearances in ''Forces'' and ''Team Sonic Racing'' paint him as pathetic for submitting to Eggman.
** Averted in Roger's parody of the infamous first movie trailer, which exclusively pokes fun at its SoundtrackDissonance instead of Sonic's much-loathed design. Played straight in the parody of the actual movie, which ends with Robotnik crash-landing on the mushroom planet and crushing the original movie Sonic in the process.
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: His adaptation of ''Adventure'' subverts the canon Super Sonic finale by having Amy calm Chaos down by showing it cute things, specifically the Chao it once tried to protect. Her reasoning is that because Chaos is full of negative emotions, she should show it positive, happy things, [[ThePowerOfLove and it works]].

* TooDumbToLive: As mentioned above, this is Big's usual characterisation, with the notable exception of "''Adventure''".

* {{Wangst}}: In both "''Riders''" and "''Rivals''", Shadow is depicted as a big whiny ball of angst, lampooning his depiction in ''[[VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog his eponymous game]].

* WhoWritesThisCrap: ''Sonic Boom 3ds'' has the cast reluctantly spouting off constant childish jokes until Lyric, who'd seemingly been the most dedicated to his performance, flies into a rage over the script, which gets smoothed over by an outtake.

* WoundedGazelleGambit: In "''Adventure''", Eggman tells the GUN General that everything he did was completely above-board (his "secret base" was a puppy orphanage, and his missile was a scientific rocket), and that Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles conspired to destroy all his good work. Not only does the GUN General believe him, he even gives Eggman a map to Prison Island and an admission pass, leading to the events of ''Sonic Adventure 2''.
