Overprotective Dad has been disambiguated

[[WMG:Senator Xiono is in the First Order]]
There are several clues alluding to Senator Xiono being either a First Order sympathizer or in the First Order itself:
*He calls the Resistance “exremists” which sounds like Centrist talk.
*How did the First Order know that Kaz was recruited for the Resistance? His father probably told them.
*The “entire Galactic senate” and the Republic fleet was on Hosnian Prime when it was destroyed but Senator Xiono wasn’t? Seems pretty suspicious.
*Xiono easily got through to the Colossus in early season 2 when their long-range communications were faulty, and the First Order were jamming and monitoring all transmissions.
*Xiono accuses Kaz for putting their family at risk by being in the Resistance. Xiono is a senator from the planet the First Order just blew up. He’s already at risk. So why would he blame it on Kaz? Either he’s emotionally abusive or he’s with the First Order and wants to hide it, so Kaz is his scapegoat. Or both.
*The Xionos were one of the wealthiest families on Hosnian Prime. According to The Last Jedi, there’s only one thing in the galaxy that will get you that rich: war. He could have made his bank working for the First Order.
**Following up on that theory, not only is Kaz’s father in the First Order, but he was also in the Empire as was his grandfather, who was also a Separatist.
[[WMG:There was never a spy for the First Order on the Colossus]]
Poe’s “secret source” lied to him. The “secret source” was really a disguised Terex from Star Wars: Poe Dameron. Venisa made Terex look bad to the FO. Then soon after was Poe's turn. Terex wanted revenge on both Venisa and Poe. After Poe rescued LST from being stranded out in space, Terex planted false evidence that there was a spy on the Colossus. He also leaked the info to the FO, which is why Vonreg attacked Kaz and his friends in the premiere. Terex figured the Resistance would send someone to the Colossus and found out Kaz had been sent there. The pirates were patsies/pawns. He set the pirates up on that freighter in Sector Six.
Terex thought if the Resistance suspects Doza, then it would cause a strain on his marriage to Venisa. It would also make Poe and both Dozas look bad.
TL:DR. Poe's old enemy (who is also Venisa's old enemy) planted false evidence that there was a spy on the Colossus to make both Poe and Venisa look bad and used the pirates as patsies.

[[WMG:There was ''supposed'' to be a Season 3, but the TroubledProduction behind ''Film/TheRiseOfSkywalker'' caused the show to be cancelled.]]
Going by the production dates on the ''Resistance'' animation model sheets and the production dates of the Sequel Trilogy films, in 2015-2016, ''Resistance'' Season 1 and 2 were written simultaneously with and a little after ''The Last Jedi''. By this logic, Season 3 should have been written with Episode IX in 2017-2018, but the Episode IX rewrites that continued even into TROS's filming made writing Season 3 difficult without possibly contradicting the new Episode IX script, and combined with how cartoon production works (possibly, Season 3 was written with the ''Duel of the Fates'' script in mind and they couldn't just rewrite it all, and/or a season without reasonably referencing/building up to an unknown Episode IX in the timeline was veto'd), it was decided to just end ''Resistance'' before it could move too far past TLJ. Note that the show never references ''The Rise of Skywalker'' and that [[OldShame there's not a lot of officially released info about]] Episode IX's production. This would also explain why the show seems CutShort.

[[WMG:Maz Kanata will appear.]]
Not only is it not clear what she's been up to after the destruction of her castle, Aunt Z mentions in "The Disappeared" that she has a friend on Takodana who is implied to be Maz herself, giving an opening for a visit to happen.
