* Alternatively, local archailects maintain the illusion it works as part of complicated scheems to keep their pocket empires stable and the silly S0 intellects thinking they have some control over their lives, or that things that have to happen to further the archailect's goals were simply natural fluctuations in economics, rather than say, a mass buy-up of iron to build warships.

[[WMG: Alternatively, OA is the far future of [[TabletopGame/{{MageTheAscension}} Mage: The Ascension]].]]
That's why the Sephirotic Empires are patterned after occult symbolism. The Traditions have lost but managed to sneak fragments of their Paradigms into the Consensus through techno-religions like Solarism and the followers of the Cyloa. The Virtual Adepts are the ancestors of the Cyberian Network. Meanwhile, the Technocracy became a victim of its own success and splintered into multiple rival factions. The Invisible Hand was a creation of the Syndicate, while the Biovirate was backed by a rogue sect of Progenitors. And, of course, the AI Gods are exactly what the name suggests.

[[WMG: The present-day OA setting forms an early portion of [[{{Warhammer40000}} the Dark Age of Technology]].]]
First contact with the Eldar is imminent, and the discovery of a xenosophont so close to human will radically alter everything the Civilised Galaxy knows about xenobiology. Meanwhile, the stated interest of many AIs in the paranormal will eventually lead to the discovery of the Warp, thereby allowing the development of easily available faster-than-light travel. Somewhere along the line, political extremism will lead to the eradication of most subspecies of humanity, but some will survive to become Ratlings, Ogryns and Beastmen.

The "Iron Men" uprising spoken of in Imperial lore actually refers to the human attempts to overthrow the rule of archailects. The catastrophic collapse of human civilisation wasn't caused by a war - it was galactic civilisation simply ceasing to function without micromanagement by higher transapients.

Think about it. The contacted migration route and other high-energy civilizations which look like 'Singer migration routes, [[http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/48028a7f74e6d HEEC-3 and HEEC-5]], seem to be moving out from the core. Also, the contacted Meistersingers are unimpressed with the terragen wormhole nexus - a work of the Archai and one of the greatest terragen achievements. Clearly they have their own high-toposophic civilization somewhere, against which the nexus could be called [[http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/4b754970b425b "cute"]]. If they are based around the core, probably with a [[http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/462d8f8f58231 black hole brain]], then yes, the terragens would merely be "cute" by comparison.
