Adding a WMG: Equestria is Tambelon

Added DiffLines:

[[WMG: Equestria is Tambelon.]]

Supposedly the land now called Equestria was ruled by "Grogar" until "Gusty the Great" and her band of unicorns defeated him and stole his bell. Grogar was a G1 villain who used his bell to bring the dimension in which Tambelon resided close enough to Ponyland to conquer the latter. The first clue that Tambelon approached was that the unicorns that "winked out" in Ponyland "winked in" in Tambelon. Ringing the large bell found in Tambelon would defeat Grogar and return Tambelon to its proper place. So it is likely that Gusty (the name of a G1 unicorn) and her band crossed over to Tambelon and used Grogar's bell to bring the dimensions close enough for the other ponies to cross over. This explains a number of quirks that arise when comparing the G1 Ponyland to the G4 Equestria.

* Tambelon was known as a 'realm of darkness'. The reason why unicorns had to raise and lower the sun and moon, and the reason why their spring event had more to do with making spring happen than celebrating that spring had arrived (as was done in Ponyland) is because the Ponies are terraforming Tambelon.

* Both Ponyland and Tambelon have magic, but they are likely different sorts of magic. As new unicorns were born in Equestria, they likely had to change in order to draw their magic through their new realm. This would explain why the unicorn-specific magic in G1 was teleportation, but is telekinesis in G4.

* Flutterponies needed a very specific environment in which to thrive in Ponyland. They may have been utterly unable to find such a place in Equestria and, as a result, devolved into a tiny species not even able to survive on their own - the Breezies. The reason why the Ponies are so patient to create the right environment to allow Breezies to continue to exist (whether they are still taught this or not) is the debt of gratitude accumulated from all the times that the Flutterponies saved their butts.

* Most locations have their own versions of one thing or another. For instance, each continent of Earth has its own primary Big Cat species, which are similar to each other because they occupy a similar ecological niche. Equestria has the "Buffalo", designed with a strong Native American vibe and a sense that they occupied the land first. They are probably the native hooved-sentient-animal species of Tambelon. This also explains why we are missing several Ponyland species such as the Bushwoolies, the Furbobs, the Stonebacks, even the Moochick; they stayed behind. Meanwhile, new species that didn't appear in the G1 series are probably native to this new realm.

* Going back to the idea of magic changing from Ponyland to Equestria/Tambelon, it is most likely that the Elements of Harmony came about from the Ponies attempting to adapt the Rainbow of Light to Tambelon's magical system. Both items use the rainbow coloring/theme, and both are clearly stated in their respective series' to be, specifically, important magical defensive systems for the ponies' realm. It could be that the entire idea of MLP:FIM comes from Celestia theorizing how to utilize the Rainbow of Light in its new, confusing, color-specific form and thus recover an important artifact of their native realm.

* This even explains why any realm with humans is accessed through a more complicated means than "the other side of the rainbow" and why we don't have a G4 "Megan"; Tambelon as a dimension is further away from Earth, and so the convenient rainbow pathway does not exist.

Of course, unanswered questions include why the Ponies crossed over, how many of them crossed over, and whether this was a colonial expansion or a refugee flight. Unless we gain any clues as to what happened to Ponyland, these questions must become potent fuel for fanfiction.

[[WMG: G5 will feature humans.]]

[[WMG: G5 will be a sequel to G4.]]
Taking place in the far future, it will follow a new group of ponies dealing with the ''real'' return of Grogar, as well as Hydia, Erebus, the Flores, Squirk, and Lavan. The series will be DarkerAndEdgier compared to G4, and instead of teaching friendship and other life lessons, it will be an action-adventure series with some pretty brutal violence.

While the new series will have a new cast of ponies, a few familiar faces will still be around, these being Twilight, Cadance, Flurry Heart, and Discord (since they're all immortal or at least nigh-immortal). Sunset Shimmer will also show up, because time in the human world flows differently than in Equestria, and Doctor Whooves will also still be around, now looking like Jodie Whittaker.

[[WMG: Contradicting above, G5 will be an AlternateContinuity with a past [[BroadStrokes similar]] to G4.]]

[[WMG: In G5, the events of G4 will be remembered through a FutureImperfect lens.]]

Promotional material has established that G5 is set in G4's future, where the latter's events have become legends of the distant past. A lack of well-preserved records (G4 ponies at the minimum have an extremely poor track record for preserving their own history) will have led to a lot of historical details becoming blurred, misremembered or forgotten altogether, and a lot of G4 history will be remembered in BroadStrokes when it ins't just EntertaininglyWrong. If G4 characters will make in-person appearances, this may lead to humorous reactions from them if G5 characters ask about details of events that either did not happen or did happen but in any way like the younger characters think they did.

[[WMG: By G5's time, ponies no longer remember that alicorns exist.]]

This is both a segue on the FutureImperfect guess and based on the idea that, if the three tribes are separated from and distrust each other, the idea of special ponies who embodied the traits of all three kinds likely fell out of cultural favor. Instead, historical alicorns like Twilight are depicted as belonging to the same tribe as that of the one telling the tale -- earth ponies say they were earth ponies, unicorns say they were unicorns, and pegasi say they were pegasi.

[[WMG: G5 ponies will have lost all magical abilities, but will regain them once magic returns to the world.]]

G5 promotional material mentions that magic has been lost from Equestria, and some hints that pegasi can no longer fly. Since most of the ponies' special abilities depend on magic to function, they were thus largely lost over history -- pegasus flight, unicorn spellcasting and earth pony strength are all long gone. For all intents and purposes, the three pony kinds are entirely alike except for the presence or absence of a pointy growth or of an extra pair of useless limbs.

However, at some point, magical will return and will bring back things like flight, spellcasting and great strength with it, greatly surprising the ponies who find themselves with abilities that they thought only existed in legend.

[[WMG: G5 ponies no longer get cutie marks; the main characters will be the first ones to have them again.]]

It is notable that all screenshots released as promotional material show the G5 characters with blank flanks. Thus, as a consequence of magic being gone, ponies also no longer develop cutie marks. Once the main characters achieve whatever it is that the first movie's plot will need them to achieve, they'll get their own cutie marks and become the first ponies in however long to do so.

The reason why other promotional materials show the characters with cutie marks is because promos always, always spoil the big twists.

[[WMG: [[WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil Star Butterfly]] was the one who destroyed all of Equestria's magic.]]

Equestrian magic proved extremely dangerous: Discord's chaos magic made life hell for ponykind in TheDarkTimes, King Sombra enslaved the Crystal Empire with dark magic, magic had to be disabled to prevent cheating in the Equestria Games, Lord Tirek, Cozy Glow, and the Storm King wanted to steal magic, AntiMagic would render those completely dependent on magic completely defenseless, Starlight Glimmer stole cutie marks and their associated talents and destroyed Equestria multiple times, and the Element of Magic brought magic to a magic-less human world that was not very used to it. Not to mention that innate Equestrian magic would not be what saves the day more often than not, and repeatedly gets taken away. So Star destroyed the magic to ensure it would never be used for evil again.
