Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

And by greater extension, to Logan's actor, Chris Noth. After the very bad blood between the actor and Creator/DickWolf that resulted in the former's firing, he then created a character that was like Logan (renegade cop with a hair-trigger temper who was raised Catholic, etc.), but whose traits were taken UpToEleven as a Flanderization flanderized version of him who was younger, more handsome, had more questionable, barely legal behavior that blurred the lines, and even looked similar to him (albeit unlike Logan, Stabler is HappilyMarried with children). Hell, the first few seasons of the series, he was even credited as "Chris Meloni" before going on to be credited as "Christopher".

WMG added for Elllie Porter, Sheila and Noah

Added DiffLines:

WMG: Ellie Porter lied about her parents being deceased because of Sheila.
On the surface, one could simply say that Ellie was ashamed of what her life had become and did not want her family to know. Further, it is easy to infer that guilt and shame and grief drove Sheila to break over her grandson Noah and wanted to redeem herself for failing Ellie. But perhaps an alternate interpretation is in order. Sheila had no problem playing everyone in her efforts to keep Noah, including her co-conspirator, Olivia and Noah. Remember, the man she persuaded to kidnap Noah would not only be left to face charges and prison time, but other prisoners who would only want to know he took a child. So perhaps she was always like she was shown to be during the kidnapping, and once in NYC, even facing life as a prostitute, Ellie would have rather never seen her mother again, so controlling and demanding was she.

* Would certainly explain why she always HAS to be the one who is right and never wrong. Although I would that Munch is actually a figment of her mind, but with an almost dangerous GenreSavvy perception on reality that he hides beneath his 'strange' conspiracies.

* Elliot is finally driven to the boiling point because of the loss of his long-time partner. He tracks down Huang and beats him to death, years and years of pent of rage finally coming out in the form of a violent ass-whooping. The police eventually show up to arrest him, dragging Elliot off to jail. As he sits in his cell, he looks out into the prison to see all of the perps he's collared over the years grinning at him, waiting for a chance to get their hands on him...

It pretty much goes like this Series/SesameStreet is or has pretty much a Great Valley like haven/secured neighborhood for all that remains of New York City's children within the svuniverse and probably was a natural habitat for its Muppet non human residents which pretty much explains why most of its residents appear to live in blissful ignorance (at least its children and child like muppets) of the far more lethal and torturous world around them.

Although back in 1999 with the ending of Homicide and the start of SVU, the show was ostensibly a vehicle/spin-off for JohnMunch, this is no longer the case.
** The increasing flimsiness of his storylines/past (him apparently growing up in a apartment on the East Side instead of in Baltimore, various people on his life have been mysteriously dropped and added, like his brother and his Uncle, respectively, etc.)
** The nasty habit of actors being rotated over and over again, even established previous characters. (Creator/AndreBraugher playing someone other than Pembleton? How dare they?! Plus, Munch's line of "You look familiar." to him wasn't necessary.)
** Also, the lack of almost none of the characters from the show by name save for Lewis, who only appeared once and wasn't/isn't nearly as popular as Pembleton.
** The fact that he's no longer on the show makes you wonder why it was even considered in the same universe in the first place. At this point, the show as about as connected to Homicide as it is to Series/LawAndOrderCriminalIntent!
