The monster specifically says “the keeper of the house can never leave” the girl not only murdered her only caretaker who buys her food and makes sure her other needs are met (since I highly doubt the fairy demon cooks or sings lullabies) but also is keeping herself from leaving to get food, and since the water in the house will no doubt be shut off if no one buys it soon, she’s screwed either way from dehydration or starvation.

The same symbol (I believe the version from "The Birch"), as well as the Look-See's "If you yourself cannot release" note, appear in Bones Broken, as well, hinting at a greater universe.
