* {{Expy}}: Tricky shares the name of a triceratops that appeared in another rare game, ''VideoGame/DiddyKongRacing''. Both species of dinosaurs are of the same suborder but Tricky is a ''Centrosaurus'', as he only has one horn.
** The Sharpclaw may not seem like it at first but are expy's of the Kremlins from Donkey Kong Country, another game by Rare. Essentially, like the Kremlins, they are humanoid reptilian pirates and conquerors who serve as the main villains of the game.
** Going with the above, General Scales is a much more blatant *Expy of King. K Rool/ Captain K. Rool from the earlier Donkey Kong Country games. Like K. Rool, Scales is a well-built, green-scaled humanoid reptilian pirate and conqueror. Although Scales is more muscle than K. Rool is, though.
