But then, he went on to state that he [[TeasingCreator could be wrong or lying]].

* DarkerAndEdgier: By [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]] standards, that is. [[TakeOverTheWorld Conquering kingdoms]] as a VillainProtagonist can be somewhat jarring to players that are used to saving them]].

* DystopiaIsHard: [[spoiler:Psycho Iris]] explains this is why [[spoiler:he would rather [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the world]] than rule it- being a dictator would be too much effort and become boring]].

** Many enemies in this game are expies of various enemies of the ''Mario'' series. The only two enemies that are actually from the Mario series are Bob-ombs and Piranha Plants. These two enemies are commonly associated with Waluigi.

* InvincibilityPowerUp: With a twist -- the Ragin' Rainbow Stars are harmful to you, so you need to grab it with your psychic powers and use MindControl to become invincible. Continuing the twist, the enemies themselves are [[InvincibleMinorMinion invincible to everything]] except mind control, and being invincible yourself.

* MeaningfulEcho: [[spoiler:Psycho Iris, when trapping Waluigi inside his own mind, tells him that being trapped will not be so bad- "After all, this is ''your mind''. Anything you think up will become reality..." When Waluigi recalls this a little later, he decide to conjure up his own MindControl cloud to replace Iris and defeat him.]]

** To be fair, he does that [[spoiler:after Waluigi has been knocked out. Beforehand, he was fine with putting his plans for destruction on hold and letting Waluigi rule Unconcia for the time being. For Iris, it's a win-win: as long as Waluigi has fun, he gets some fun too; and when Waluigi eventually falls into boredom, he'll agree with the "destroy the world" thing]].

* BigBad: Psycho Iris is the one who sends Waluigi on his conquering journey, and has tried to conquer Unconcia in the past. [[spoiler:He’s even the FinalBoss.]]

* BadLiar: Psycho Iris constantly assures Waluigi that he has no plans to betray him. The closer Waluigi gets to releasing him, the more frantic the eyeball's claims become. Before the final level, he tries to tempt him by making ridiculous promises, saying that he'll give him the power to fly, shoot lasers from his eyes, and [[SuperNotDrowningSkills breathe, eat, and talk underwater]] [[LampshadeHanging ("You've been doing that, right?")]] before finally giving up and simply begging to be freed.
