In a dystopian future setting, the chosen few live in opulence within the Enclave, while the majority of people are condemned to squalor in the slums. To gain entrance to the Enclave, those on society's lower rungs can participate in a trial called the Bloodharvest, testing their skills of survival against a ruthless Hunter. The Hunter's role is to weed out the unworthy from entering the Enclave, ensuring that only the best survive and all others never escape the Deathgarden.

Updating for Bloodharvest release. Much of this is based on outdated lore or gameplay. I'm commenting out anything about lore I'm unsure about.

''Deathgarden'' is an [[AsymmetricMultiplayer asymmetrical]] action game in which one player is an unstoppable Hunter armed to the teeth with big guns and deadly gadgets, and the opposing five players are Runners, armed with shortbows, a variety of {{Trick Arrow}}s, and LeParkour.

In the year 2043, a great catastrophic war takes place known as the 1000 Day War. Several different factions fought over resources, advance 3D printing, and the resources need to built them. Terrible acts and atrocities were committed by every faction, including testing the live fire of weapons on POW. This became known as the Gauntlet. At the end of the war, society came together again and collected what little that remained. Trying to start anew with a more meaningful purpose, they have banned and outlawed the Gauntlet but society couldn't seem to forget about it. What first started out as a way to pay tribute to a way to those who have fallen soon evolved into a BloodSport, even acting as social credit and a way to rise through ranks of society. The game takes places 22 years after the war ended.

Framed as a sci-fi BloodSport, the Runners are placed into a small arena and tasked with completing an objective, such as capturing towers or collecting keys. Once this is done, at least three Runners must reach one of the designated escape points. The Hunter's goal is to kill at least three Runners before this happens, but his ordinary weapons can only incapacitate. An incapacitated Runner is only slain when his bleedout timer expires, or the Hunter is able to execute him on an impaling device called the "blood post".

Like its Parent game, ''VideoGame/DeadByDaylight'', the Hunter is relentless, covers ground faster than the Runners, and cannot be permanently harmed. However, the Runners can hide in tall grass, use their superior LeParkour skills to escape vertically, and shoot {{Trick Arrow}}s to stun and disorient the Hunter at key moments. Each round's map is randomly generated with an arrangement of trees, tall grass, cliffs, ramps, upgrade boxes, and tower positions.

* CombatResuscitation: Runners who are knocked down may still crawl to a health box or hiding place. Other Runners can revive them with [[HealingShiv healing arrows]] or by interaction. Failure to revive will result in the Runner's bleedout timer expiring, and successive knockdowns will reduce the timer's starting point.

* RingOut: Falling off the edge of the arena is an instant incapacitation for a Runner, or an instant trip to the blood post if it's charged.

Tweaking things as new info becomes available. A new game mode involving keys was recently teased.

Framed as a sci-fi BloodSport, the Runners are placed into a small arena and tasked with capturing two out of three towers.

''Deathgarden'' enters early access on August 14, 2018.

* EvilIsBigger: The Hunter kills for sport, wears PoweredArmor, and carries huge guns, making quite a contrast against the slim Runners who wear more or less ordinary clothes.

* MultiRangedMaster: The Hunter can take two weapons into the Garden and uses assault rifles, sniper rifles, [=LMGs=], and shotguns with equal expertise.

* ShortRangeShotgun: The shotgun is extremely short range, and the shells outright vanish just a dozen yards out.

to:

* RunOrDie: Just like in ''VideoGame/DeadByDaylight'', Runners are not meant to engage the Hunter directly. Special arrows can disorient the Hunter for a few seconds, but it's only good enough for doing a blood post rescue or escaping.

Like its spiritual predecessor, ''VideoGame/DeadByDaylight'', the Hunter is relentless, covers ground faster than the Runners, and cannot be permanently harmed.

* BloodSport: Many of the gameplay elements only make sense with some kind of higher authority overseeing what goes on, such as the arena's randomization, the way that bullet holes and boxes regenerate, how the Hunter can set alarms by ''shooting'' boxes, and the somewhat arbitrary win conditions.
* CriticalExistenceFailure: Per the norm in [=FPS=] games, Runners can take several bullets with blood flying everywhere, still able to run and jump at normal speed until the last bit of health lost makes their body ragdoll and go flying.

* LeParkour: Runners can quickly climb vertical walls and trees, no matter the height.
* NoSell: Ordinary arrows, and even turret bullets will merely plink against the Hunter's armor.
* RingOut: Falling off the edge of the arena is an instant incapacitation for a Runner, or an instant trip to the blood post if it's charged.
* TrickArrow: The Runners' various arrows are able to mark points of interest, stun, heal, and implant a computer virus in the Hunter's suit.
