Added DiffLines:

* DarkerAndEdgier: Than canon ace attorney games. The storyline is bleaker and characters suffer more, the villains are more evil, and there's some stronger language.

Added DiffLines:

* DramaticIrony: Apollo is extremely trusting of [[spoiler:Shelley De Killer]] even though he's a serial killer and assassin. Franziska also suspects him of being a murderer [[spoiler:Which she's correct about, just not for this specific murder. Ironically, this is the man that shot her in the shoulder and caused her to miss an important case.]]

Added DiffLines:

** [[spoiler: Nathan Mags is a far more severe example, being a smug and conniving bastard who manipulates and betrays everyone around him. Brooke Keeper is the only person that can tolerate him, though that's only because she is unaware of his evil actions until the end of chapter 2.]]

* HateSink: Wesley Stickler is an interesting example of this, as he isn't particuarly evil, just extremely obnoxious and unhelpful. He serves to be a punching bag that's unlikable enough that you won't complain when Apollo an co. give him a hard time.

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Nathan Mags, CEO and founder of Red Co. is described by Brooke Keeper as being an absolute pleasure to work with and that he treats his employees like family.

* WakeUpCallBoss: [[spoiler:Charles Fuzz.]] He's a decent liar and finding his contradictions requires getting familiar with the evidence. It's fitting that a generally more difficult game has a more difficult starter culprit.

Added DiffLines:

* DecoyProtagonist: Phoenix is the playable character for Case 1 and the first investigation phase of Case 2. Then he gets shot (non-lethally) and hospitalized for the majority of the story, leaving Apollo to take over as the protagonist.

Set after the events of Dual Destinies, the dark age of the law is finally coming to a close and the legal system can begin to recover. Well, that would be the plan, but a close friend of the Wright Anything Agency is a suspect for (what else) murder. So Apollo and Phoenix once again take up the defence bench and tackle yet another case. But things may not be as simple as they appear to be...

So Apollo and Phoenix once again take up the defence bench and tackle yet another case. But things may not be as simple as they appear to be...

A couple of months after the last case, Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth comes to the Wright Anything Agency with a request. A prosecutor has been arrested for the murder of a high ranking employee at a famous company called Red Co. After the events that lead to the dark age of the law, this case is particularly sensitive and has the potential to once again plunge the legal world into chaos. Even worse is that everything about this case is stacked against the defence, even the defendant himself.

With the Red Co. case behind them, Apollo and Athena take the night off and meet up with Franziska at... a casino? Peculiar choices aside,
things begin to take a turn for the worse when a body is discovered by one of the staff members. Now Apollo finds himself taking on another case, although his motives for doing so are somewhat questionable...

!!This fan case provides examples of:
* AmoralAttorney: Edward Crooke works for the Rivales and Mags' criminal syndicate, and got several of their associates off the hook. He justifies it by saying that everyone deserves a fair trial, but several of his own trials showed signs of tampering in his favor. [[spoiler:In truth, he didn't enjoy his work nor did he approve of the methods used, and when the criminal syndicate was shut down for good he turned in his attorney's badge and began searching for Faith.]]
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Edward Crooke takes place as the playable attorney for the extra case, Turnabout Regrets.
* AssholeVictim: Several.
** Raymond Bett was a smuggler who betrayed Mags' syndicate and was killed by Matt Doore as retaliation.

** [[spoiler:Charles Fuzz]] was on Nathan Mags' payroll and killed Detective Victor Timothy.

* BigEater: Ian Garde.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Detective Charles Fuzz introduces himself by [[LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn having his theme song]], a jazzy [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZsOwo9rhsQ salsa tune]], be played before he gives his name and occupation.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Nathan Mags holds a tight control over Los Angeles through his company, Red Co. and through his control of the Rivales gang.
* DetectivePatsy: Edward Crooke was called upon to defend Matt Doore, Nathan Mags' personal secretary for the murder of Raymobd Bett.
* DirtyCop: [[spoiler:Detective Charles Fuzz was on Nathan Mags' payroll the whole time and was the one who killed Detective Victor Timothy and blamed Ema Skye for his death in order to retrieve the OG-4 case file. He also manipulated the evidence in Matt Doore's trial.]]
* LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn: Detective Charles Fuzz' theme is actually played in the courtroom as his introduction.
* TheLostLenore: Prosecutor Faith Truman, despite her short interaction with Defense Attorney Edward Crooke, left quite the impact on him. His [[DetectivePatsy "betrayal"]] in the case of Matt Doore and her disappearance affected him badly.
* KarmaHoudini: In case 4, you find out that [[spoiler:Charles Fuzz]] was found not guilty in his trial. Due to double jeopardy laws, he can't be held on trial for the same crime again.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: [[spoiler:Charles Fuzz doesn't last longer than a day before being killed]].
* NeverFoundTheBody:
** Wade Waters was killed by Marlon Dee, and the shot that killed him sent him into the strong currents of the Dawning River and he was never seen again. [[spoiler:In truth, he faked his death with Dee's help and returned as the British immigrant Douglas Ford]].
** In the epilogue, Edward Crooke mentions that [[spoiler:Waters' resurgence made him realize that [[TheLostLenore Faith Truman]]'s body]] was also never recovered.
* NotMeThisTime:
** The defendant of case 3 is the Rivales Casino butler "John Doe", also known as Shelly de Killer. Though he ''was'' at the Rivales Casino to assassinate someone, he had nothing to do with the murder that took place.
** Mags wasn't the one who ordered [[spoiler:Fuzz]] to retrieve the case file in case 1. [[spoiler:That was Shay Dee, who forged a letter using the signature Mags uses for his criminal activities.]]
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: [[spoiler:How "Douglas Ford" is unmasked as Wade Waters: Apollo mentions that now that he's under pressure, his British accent vanished.]]
