* RealitySubtext: One of the final scenes of Lorelei's last season has the Syndicate parting ways after a night of karaoke, with Juliette becoming distraught because she's not ready to say goodbye yet. This was the last release of the original four love interests, and at the time, the future of the series as a whole was uncertain.

* PopCultureUrbanLegends: Fan speculation abounds regarding why the four original love interest routes were brought to hasty conclusion in their fourth (Renzei and Lorelei) / fifth (Duke and Andi) seasons. The most popular version involves one or more producers or writers, or even the entire Villainous Nights team, leaving or being fired from the company. Some fan circles floated more unlikely conspiracy theories that it was canned due to racism and/or homophobia on the part of the company (as it was at the time the first title to have a truly even division of male and female love interests, and remains to date the only main title with a black heroine) despite being "their most popular title." No official announcement was ever made regarding the cancellation of those routes, leaving the field wide open for the cultivation of EpilepticTrees.
