* Aluminum Christmas Trees: In the Park's Edge episode, when Gordon complains that the Caesar salad is spicy, the chef insists "Caesar salad was invented in Mexico, it's supposed to be spicy!" While Caesar salad dressing being spicy is up for debate, he's correct that Caesar salad was originally invented in a restaurant in Tijuana (albeit by an Italian immigrant).

** Moore Place was meant to be the restaurant featured in the UK pilot episode, as of the four restaurants the production team had identified to feature in the first season, it was the one nearest to London. However, the restaurant had to be shut for essential electrical work during the scheduled filming dates. The pilot was therefore switched to being made at Bonaparte's, which out of the other three was the closest to a major city (namely Leeds).

Names The Same is no longer a trope

* NamesTheSame:
** In the Burger Kitchen, the head chef was named John David Blaine. Gordon was quick to point out his name being similar to that of the illusionist David Blane.
** In the U.K. series, the married owners of the Sandgate Hotel were named Peter and Lois, which just happen to be the names of the married animated leads of the T.V. show Family Guy.
** The Finn [=McCool's=] seen in season 1 is unrelated to various other Irish pubs of the same name in the US.

Not a trivia trope

* FamousAncestor: Or, rather, infamous. On the "Burger Kitchen" episode, it's mentioned repeatedly that the money to start the restaurant was inherited from owner Alan's father, about whom Alan also wrote a scathing book. His father was [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abe_Saffron Abe Saffron]], a notorious Australian 'crime boss' who made his money through ownership of strip clubs and was once accused of a high-profile murder.
