* BreakthroughHit: While not the first work (nor their most iconic) of either, ''Hidamari Sketch'' is credited as the first major success for both Magazine/MangaTimeKirara and Creator/StudioShaft. It was the first anime adaptation from the former that would pay the way for most of it's latter manga to get animated, and is recognized as the latter's first series to adapt the studio's signature style. And all this after it survived an infamously troublesome production.

* SeriesHiatus: The series used to be regularly active in its prime during the heyday of the anime, but ever since it ended, the manga has been infrequent with chapters. This can be reflected with the volume releases; from 2005 to 2012, there were seven volumes distributed. From 2013 to 2020, only three volumes were released, and that's not taking into account the four year gap between the ninth and ten volumes.

* FollowTheLeader: Due to the success of ''Hidamari'', Kirara would start to branch out into adapting more of their manga, which is still seen to this day. Most of them follow the same SchoolgirlSeries template as ''Hidamari'', but a majority have failed to recapture the same magic.

* NoBudget: Famously, the first season was made on an incredibly cheap budget, given it was in the early days of Kirara and Shaft (the former which had never dabbled in anime prior and the latter only produced a few anime beforehand). This turned out to be a blessing as the unique direction the first season brought to the table has been praised as one of its best qualities. The following seasons were given a larger budget and more polish.

* CommonCrossover: Due to the association with Creator/UmeAoki, fans of ''Hidamari Sketch'' tend to also like ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'', which Aoki was the character designer. Considering what [[CosmicHorrorStory kind of story]] PMMM is, the adjoining of those two is [[SuperDeformed widely]] disturbing.
** Clearly this has been noted by the producers; a commercial for the ''Puella Magi Madoka Magica'' Movie appeared in the first episode of ''Hidamari Sketch X Honeycomb'', aired early October 2012. This is hardly coincidental, as producers purchase the entire OtakuOClock block and has a free rein on what commercials to put on as long as it agrees with the MoralGuardians.
** This is also the origin of the FanNickname "Chidamari Sketch" for ''PMMM'' ("chidamari" meaning, approximately, "pool of blood" in Japanese).
