* DoingItForTheArt: One of Chiklis' requirements for accepting the role of the Thing was that his character would be make-up based, rather than the CGI everyone else had previously assumed. This meant that Chiklis insisted upon hours of application and wearing heavy, uncomfortable makeup, over the option that would have allowed him to earn the same money in significantly less time simply by voice acting. Why? Because Chiklis was a fan who knew that underneath the rock skin, Ben Grimm's still a human being, and this was best shown by having his actor go through the same thing. The production team thought that Chiklis would have to ADR his lines due to the heavy prosthetics and oversized teeth he'd have to wear. Instead, he spent hours reading to his children while wearing the teeth until he became fully intelligible. Once again, it was because Chiklis felt that being able to perform in the moment with his co-stars was best way to convey the character of Ben Grimm rather than having to perform the part in a booth. Apparently, Chiklis' wife came by the set unexpectedly one day to see him. He was in the full body suit and makeup at the time, and she was totally unprepared for seeing him like that. * DuelingMovies:
** The first with ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles'' (a dysfunctional superhero family) and ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'' (features a villain shooting out electricity and was released two months apart). The first film had to be reshot to prevent similarities with the earlier. Ironically, all three movies produced memorable memes.

* DyeingForYourArt: Jessica Alba dyed her hair blonde for the first film, but wore a wig for the second.

* FanNickname: Gah Lak Tus is derisively referred to as Cloudlactus here, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin for randomly being turned into a giant cloud in this adaptation]].
* FollowTheLeader: This film was made after the success of ''Film/SpiderMan1''. It goes for a similarly lighthearted tone and there's more than a passing resembling between Dr. Doom's story-arc from this film and Norman Osborn's from that one.
* FranchiseKiller: The ''Silver Surfer'' spinoff never happened. That movie also halted the film franchise as a whole for 8 years until Fox tried to reboot it in 2015, which became [[StillbornFranchise a completely different story]].
* MeaningfulReleaseDate: It was originally supposed to be released on July 4, 2005, and early trailers played this up. However, its release date was shifted to four days later.

* MissingTrailerScene: In the first trailer for the first film, Dr. Doom electrocutes Ned near water. In the actual film, he shoots a bolt through and out Ned's chest.

* TheOtherMarty: Creator/DougJones was going to voice the Silver Surfer but his voice was dubbed over by Creator/LaurenceFishburne in post production.

** Creator/MichaelChiklis has been a comic book fan since he was a kid. Guess which one was his favorite?

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The film is clearly a 2005 product with Johnny using a digital camera and quotes the "priceless" motto from [=MasterCard=] ads.
* WagTheDirector: Creator/MichaelChiklis successfully fought The Thing be a real creation and not CGI, even if it meant wearing an uncomfortable costume.

* OldShame: Zak Penn, the writer of the first movie's tie-in video game, made a [[SelfDeprecation self-deprecating]] jab at the game, as well as ''VideoGame/XMenTheOfficialGame'', in his 2014 documentary ''Atari: Game Over'' while going over his career writing for both comic book movies and the "[[TheProblemWithLicensedGames shitty video games]]" made out of them.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** The first game saw Creator/CreeSummer fill in for Creator/KerryWashington as Alicia. Additionally, the game had three bonus levels using the 616 and ''Ultimates'' costumes, where none of the film actors reprised their roles, including Creator/RobinAtkinDownes replacing Creator/IoanGruffudd as Reed, Creator/GreyDeLisle replacing Creator/JessicaAlba as Sue, Creator/FredTatasciore replacing Creator/MichaelChiklis as Ben, Creator/QuintonFlynn reprising his role from [[WesternAnimation/FantasticFour the '90s cartoon]] and replacing Creator/ChrisEvans as Johnny, and Creator/JimMeskimen replacing Julian [=McMahon=] as Dr. Doom.
** None of the actors from the film reprised their roles in the ''Rise of the Silver Surfer'' game.
