* EditedForSyndication: When this show played in syndication as part of the ''Fun World Of Hanna-Barbera'' package in 1977, the station in Atlanta, Ga. airing it (at the time independent WANX [[note]]now CBS affiliate WGCL[[/note]]) was owned by Pat Robertson's CBN outfit. To conform with their own broadcast standards, the hypnotism scenes from "Zilly's A Dilly" were cut out. Similarly, other episodes (of this show and others the station had) were trimmed to accommodate a local live-action host segment as well as due to elements that violated their broadcast standards.

* IAmNotShazam: Many people still call this show by its working name and theme song, ''Stop That Pigeon''. Lampshaded in the ''WesternAnimation/YogisTreasureHunt'' episode "Yogi's Heroes," where Dick and Muttley capture Snooper and Blabber and force them to watch old D&M cartoons, which Snooper called "Stop That Pigeon-type cartoons."
* NamesTheSame: Another Muttley followed this one, albeit with one "t" in the name. Mutley was the canine companion of journalist Doug [=McConnell=] (from KPIX/ch. 5 in San Francisco) whose children's series ''Mac & Mutley'' visited vacation spots and the extraordinary animal pets that lived there.

Added DiffLines:

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: It was originally conceived as ''Stop That Pigeon'' (the show's theme song), and the two principals, along with Klunk and Zilly, were a jelly-bellied Red Baron-esque character and an orange dachshund with flying goggles. Dick Dastardly and Muttley were originally meant to be on ''WesternAnimation/ThePerilsOfPenelopePitstop'' as the protectors of Penelope's brother. The two were instead drafted into ''Stop That Pigeon'', replacing the Baron figure and dachshund, and that show was renamed.
