''Kino'' was thus put off to become the on-disc content of ''Black Ops''. It was also intended to have a boss zombie referred to in files as "The Engineer", but he was deleted by the time ''Black Ops'' came out, and appears to have been reworked into George Romero for ''Call of the Dead'' (which ''also'' was in the works during ''World at War'' under the name "Coast").

** There exist some unused quotes of the mobsters from ''Mob of the Dead'' (sans Weasel) which were supposed to be used in place of the Demonic Announcer.
** A Wonder Weapon cut from ''Mob'' was ''Richtofen's head'', which would be partially zombified and speak as it was used by the player. This got far enough into development that it was fully rendered and Nolan North also recorded lines for it, but it was removed, perhaps due to it being such an eclectic addition to the darkest, most serious ''Zombies'' map to date.
** ''Mob of the Dead'' was originally designed to be a scale model of the ''entire'' Alcatraz Island. However, technological and time constraints nixed it. ''Blood of the Dead'' later incorporated several of the cut concepts from ''Mob''.
** In ''Mob'', Sal believes that Brutus is a reincarnation of Stanley Ferguson, the night guard killed in the opening cinematic. While ''Blood of the Dead'' would later confirm that Stanley and Brutus are separate individuals, cut audio files have Brutus stating he had a wife and son and directly references lines from the cinematic, suggesting that originally Brutus ''was'' Stanley.

** ''Mob of the Dead'' was initially first in line to be included in ''Zombies Chronicles'', however Jason Blundell felt that it clashed with the pack's theme of revolving around the adventures of the original four characters and it was left out. However, Blundell has stated that ''Mob'' still has a purpose, which, along with the final issue of the ''Zombies'' comic book, implied that it would be remastered in Treyarch's next game instead. Sure enough, the trailers for ''Call of Duty: Black Ops 4'' would confirm that ''Mob'' would be remade as ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCot9TDoA-M Blood of the Dead]]'', though with the Primis crew instead of the Mobsters.

** The M27 assault rifle from ''Black Ops II'' can be obtained through the console in ''Black Ops 3'', where it functions exactly like in the second game and retains its Pack-a-Punch version, but the trick can only be done in ''Gorod Krovi''.

** One of the most popular [[GameMod custom gamemodes]] in previous multiplayer COD (or just about any other first person shooter) was/is "[[EverythingsDeaderWithZombies zombie mode]]" or some variation of it. So much so that it led Treyarch to simply include it as an on-disc bonus gameplay mode with pretty much no plot or complexity. [[SerialEscalation After that, well...]] just look at [[{{Troperrific}} the rest of this page.]]
** Some suspect that the interpretation of [[ThoseWackyNazis Richtofen]] being a DepravedHomosexual in a lot of Nazi Zombies fanfics (particularly with [[EagleLand Dempsey]]) led to Treyarch [[RuleOfFunny throwing in a joke]] in Call Of The Dead where Richtofen is implied to have [[AccidentalPervert accidentally]] [[GroinAttack yanked on Dempsey's crotch]], and another joke where Richthofen is explicitly stated to have [[AssShove puts his finger in Dempsey's ass]] (although Dempsey [[DopeSlap quickly proceeds to kick]] [[AbhorrentAdmirer Richtofen's]]), as well as giving him a LOT more suggestive dialogue:
--> "It's a little gun, but it has a long barrel, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything like my college roommate]]."
*** His ''Origins'' counterpart carries some of the same mannerisms and innuendos, [[GoodCounterpart but definitively drops the "Depraved" part.]]
** A possible (VERY) spoiler-y example between Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4: [[spoiler: When Doctor Monty was introduced as the BigGood for the endgame in ''Black Ops III'', he was received divisively due to how he had little build-up, and drew a lot of theories that he might actually be just as evil as the Shadow Man, or possibly even the true villain behind everything. Well, come ''Blood of the Dead'' [[EvilAllAlong and...]]]]

* TheCharacterDiedWithHim: Odd example. George Romero died two years before ''Tag der Toten'', a remake/reimagining of "Call of the Dead" was released. Victis visits the map at a time period before 2011's ''Call'', but the players can find Romero's glasses on a table, with the cast paying tribute to him. It's basically a breaking of the fourth wall to pay tribute to the grandfather of zombies.
