*** Unto itself, when interacting with the dream version of Cassandra and wondering if she's happy, she tells Rapunzel that she's indeed happy because her best friend is here. So what more could she ask for? As she says these words, there's a shot of Rapunzel cradling Cass's hands in her own, still remembering they were scarred in the real world. Just the visual of it speaks volumes of the harsh reality that Rapunzel doesn't want to face.

* Heck, Cassandra's betrayal in general is a devastating sight to behold. From the start of the series, she and Rapunzel had each other's backs no matter what. But after what happened at the Great Tree, the two slowly became distant, with Cass's insecurities and desire to change everyone's view of her made her increasingly bitter and resentful of the princess. What finally made her snap was when she remembered her lost childhood memories and that she was Gothel's biological daughter at the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow. Because of these memories, along with the belief that the princess has been upstaging her since ''before'' they met, Cassandra develops a newfound hatred for Rapunzel and motivates her to betray her and the rest of the gang.

* Cassandra's decision to leave Corona can be quite sobering. After Zhan Tiri's defeat, the only people she is seen reconciling with are her adoptive father, Rapunzel, and Eugene. We never see her interact with any of the other Coronans, nor is it known if they actually did forgive her. Considering her role in the she-demon's escape, along with her forceful takeover of the kingdom in the episode prior, it would be hard to blame them, or her for leaving.

* Cassandra's IWantSong, "Waiting In The Wings", while a stunning number by Eden Espinosa, is also very morose and sad - a rare glimpse into her greatest troubles and her heart's desires that she only shares with the audience when her friends are asleep and no one else is around. All her life, Cassandra has been held back by her station as a servant girl, unable to achieve her dreams while her friends and loved ones have had fulfilling lives filled with glory and excitement. And the rare opportunities she has come across to be a part of something of greater, she's passed up in the name of friendship, hoping she would have better luck with the next one. Cassandra feels like she's done noteworthy with her life, living in the shadows of greater men and women, and she's afraid that there's never going to change. This song is pretty heartbreaking in retrospect, because it perfectly demonstrates one of Cassandra's core character flaws - her habit of bottling up her true feelings and her hurt to her detriment until it boils over - and because her regrets and her worries about the future will eventually play a part in her StartOfDarkness which kicks off at the end of this episode. "Rapunzel And The Great Tree" is the beginning of the end of Cassandra being on good terms with Rapunzel and the gang.
