* Madoka's reaction to Sayaka's death, leaning over the body and crying into her chest.
** When Homura, during this scene, callously explains that this, as in turning into witches or dying, is the eventual fate of all magical girls, set in stone the moment they contract, Kyoko lifts her by the collar and snaps at her that Homura must be getting off on knowing these things, and tells Homura that "She (Sayaka) was her (Madoka's) best friend" and demands to know, "Are you even still human?!" To which Homura, in her usual deadpan voice, says, "Of course not. And you aren't either."

chest, it's particularly heartbreaking to see how she talks about Sayaka's desire to become a hero and protect people from witches, even with the recent bumps in their friendship, Madoka still really adored Sayaka.

It's implied that Kyoko is just as torn apart as Madoka about Sayaka's fate even if she's far less expressive about it, when she carries Sayaka's lifeless body she looks just completely lost and heartbroken.

* Kyoko's HeroicSacrifice[=/=]MercyKill on Oktavia von Seckendorff, saying she understands how horrible it is to be alone, and she won't let Sayaka die that way. She also feels immensely guilty for involving Madoka into the situation(to her immense credit she told Madoka various times it would be dangerous and there's no way Madoka would have stayed behind) in the first place and feels it's the only way to ensure Sayaka doesn't have to murder her beloved best friend.

* Oktavia giving out a blood-curdling shriek in Sayaka's voice. The effect is both nightmarish and [[TorturedMonster tragic]]. What's worse is she gives out this scream after she spots her body, implying she knows that she is now fully out of her human body and now in the body of a deformed witch, which in turn implies she was somewhat self-aware of her situation but couldn't stop herself. Worse still this implies she was aware but helpless to stop it when she tried to kill Madoka, and when the heavily wounded Kyoko subjected both to a MercyKill, just imagining the fear and pain of the once noble and kind Sayaka Miki is enough to make one shed a tear.

* Outside of being complete NightmareFuel, Kyubey's torture of Sayaka by stepping on her gem is heartbreaking to witness, she's already suffering internally because of finding out the truth about her soul and [[KickTheDog Kyubey twists in the knife by making her physically suffer]], the poor girl tearfully writhes on the floor in agony while [[LackOfEmpathy he just smugly explains why he put her soul in the gem]], and this moment leads to Sayaka trying to block out all of the pain which leads her onto a much darker path. Making it even worse on rewatches.

In addition at the end of all this torture/explanation of why her soul is now in a gem, Sayaka asks Kyubey how he could do this to her and the other magical girls, and her voice sounds so clearly betrayed and broken.

** The way Kyoko reacts when Sayaka throws away an apple. The way she tears into that apple when she gets upset. The way she reacts when Sayaka asked where she got the apples. You can tell she was deeply scarred from the time when her family was starving.
