* The last time rift in Infinite History hits hard if you're working against Fu. The scenario involves Trunks taking on Zamasu and Goku Black, except now both sides are joined by Tapion and Jiren, respectively. If you help Fu change history, you fight alongside Trunks and Tapion, which results in Tapion sealing Zamasu away like he did with Hirudegarn. Because of this, Fused Zamasu can never form and the saga's SuddenDownerEnding [[ForWantOfANail never comes to pass]]. Working ''against'' Fu, on the other hand, has you taking both Tapion and Jiren out of the picture, ensuring that [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption the timeline goes on like normal]]. While the outcome doesn't matter due to [[ResetButton how Fu's rifts work]], it's just a taste of the DLC to come.

** Especially sad if you headcannoned your Xenoverse 2 character as their child, brother, or sister, meaning in exchange for taking up their family's torch and fighting to protect history, they are punished by forcing to fight their own blood, not to mention the hell in your first character's mind. ** However, there is an [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments upside]]: Gohan realizes that this Trunks has come back from the future, and deduces that Bulma must have finished her time machine and the future was saved. He tells Trunks how proud he is of the man he's become, [[FlingALightIntoTheFuture then goes off to fight #17 and #18 filled with new resolve by the knowledge that no matter the outcome, this fight has meaning.]] And given what he says regarding the Conton Hero present there, and how he takes one last look over his shoulder, it makes it clear: Gohan seems to ''understand'' that he's ''going'' to die. [[HeroicWillpower But that just gives him greater determination than ever]] [[DyingMomentOfAwesome to see this through to the end.]]

* Across the game, Fu's more idealistic stance as a Time Breaker showcases that there's a depressing reality to being a Time Patroller; You need to fix ''every'' issue with the timeline, even ones where the heroes win early. DLC 13 shows this in full force, with you and Time Patroller Trunks having to stop Fu's meddling by ''acting as Frieza's bodyguard'' while he's destroying Planet Vegeta.

DLC 13 shows this in full force, with you and Time Patroller Trunks having to stop Fu's meddling by ''acting as Frieza's bodyguard'' while he's destroying Planet Vegeta. After fighting to tire Bardock and Fu out, Bardock's precognition as he sees Trunks shows him that he'll be the one to kill Frieza and avenge them, only to then see a far more immediate future - seconds away, in fact - where Frieza gets bored of the pathos and lines up a Death Beam to kill both Saiyans at once. Bardock, desperate to have ''some'' kind of impact on his fate, throws Trunks out of the way to take the beam on his own, and begs Trunks to end Frieza once and for all with his final breath.

** Then comes the last fight Against Dabura, who promptly brings your partner's rival or closest person to fight you two. In Future Gohan's case? Android Saga's Trunks, who is obviously reluctant and pained in fighting him to the death while not being able to escape Dabura's control. And you HAVE to beat him regardless, all while Gohan tries to comfort him and asks to show him his full power.

Gohan happily welcomes him anyway, saying Bulma won't mind two Trunks given what all's happened.]] The worst part? You're asked your opinion on whether this history alteration should be fixed or remain the same, the story leaving off on an ominous note for downloadable content to likely conclude. And for all we know, this could force you to come to odds with Trunks.
