* ''Manga/SpyXFamily'' is a SpyFiction story that is mostly grounded in reality with even the Assassins and SecretPolice being treated as mostly normal humans. And then there is Anya Forger, a telepath with absolutely no downsides other than her power going offline during a new moon. Her one real weakness is that she's (maybe) six years old and has the intelligence, impulse control, and attention span to match. Highlighted best in Chapter 94, where she resolves a Murdeystery before anyone can die by using her powers to identify the culprit.

** While nowhere near as powerful as the previous examples, [[SuperMode Dragon Force]] is shown to be this show's answer to the [[Anime/DragonBallZ Super Saiyan]] transformation. It's got some absurd destructive power, capable of rivaling and even '''overpowering''' S-Class and '''Wizard Saint''' level opponents with ease. naturally, none of the first-generation Dragon Slayers [[spoiler: ([[TookALevelInBadass except]] [[ChildProdigy Wendy]])]] can activate it at will, and Natsu himself only gets to use it a total of three times so far. [[spoiler:The first two instances result in total victory (but not without some resistance on the 2nd occasion given just how [[WorthyOpponent strong]] the opponent was), and the last one had him run out of power before he could deliver the final blow.]]

*** This is deconstructed a bit after the TimeSkip. As it turns out the most powerful characters, including many of those who reside in the [[DeathWorld New World]], have access to KiManipulation that can bypass the NighInvulnerability that Logia fruits grant. One New World-based character even states that Logia users tend to not last long in the New World, since they're so used to their powers being an example of this trope that they tend to find out the hard way that they aren't anymore. True to that, three villainous characters with Logia powers have been introduced since the TimeSkip, every one of them [[CurbStompBattle taken down with very little effort]].

** Deconstructed with Excalibur; he is the most powerful Demon Weapon in existence, to the point hw was the model Shinigami and Eibon based themselves on to conceptualozr the process of creating Demon Weapons, but he is too annoying and haughty to be tolerated by anyone.

** Aizen's Shikai is complete control over the five senses. Once hypnotized by the Shikai, a person will always be so vulnerable to the illusions they won't even know they're ensnared. Since everyone of note in Soul Society has been hypnotized, it's impossible for them to beat him, even when working together. Ichigo only stood a chance because he had not been ensnared [[spoiler:and, by the time they fought, Aizen was so [[DrunkInTheDarkSide drunk on power]] that he willfully discarded using his sword's Shikai due to the belief he had gained even better Story-Breaker Powers than ever.]]

** Roy Mustang's power is just stock [[PlayingWithFire elemental fire]] but he uses it to singlehandedly kill 2 near immortal homunculi and he's the only alchemist [[TheDragon Pride]] is worried about. [[spoiler:He's given a DramaPreservingHandicap in the finale and still kicks his fair share of ass.]]
** Not to mention [[spoiler: Van Hohenheim, who's distaste for fighting and tendency to work alone, away from the heroes, and the fact that he has gotten to know every single soul in his body, which he burns whenever he uses alchemy, are partially in place to keep him from solving the plot by himself, considering he's just as powerful and immortal as [[BigBad Father]] and thus far more powerful than the 7 homunculi who the heroes struggle with throughout the story as well as the aforementioned Roy Mustang. Just as an example, he founded Xingese alkahestry just like Father founded Amestrian alchemy.]]
** Naturally, Truth as the God of the Fullmetal Alchemist universe is bar none the most powerful character in the series. Despite being initially depicted as a [[JerkassGods Jerkass]], we never see any of the heroes even try to challenge him. In fact, even Edward despite resenting him more than anyone else refuses to tangle with him after Truth makes it clear how his efforts would never work if all he does is try to use Alchemy against him, seeking a different way that doesn't involve him to save Alphonse's body. The finale with Father having Truth's power demonstrates just how overwhelming his power is and exactly why people never try fighting Truth no matter what he does. Father was already immensely powerful, but by the time he becomes God, he was briefly invincible and easily uses super-powerful Alchemy techniques while making it clear it was nothing. Even after he is left decaying and dying, he still demolishes his enemies and gives them a hell of a fight and it takes a HeroicSacrifice to finally end him, after which Truth finally gets his hands dirty for once and helps the heroes by swiftly imprisoning Father, seemingly deciding to do that because having someone regularly seek his power would be devastating. In the end, Edward chooses to give Truth exactly what he wanted after coming to an epiphany, realizing that the reason why Truth not only never helps directly until then but also makes sure the power he grants comes with a price is because he acknowledges his power, even a fraction of it, is just too great for anyone to wield and it would make them arrogant and seek dominance, meaning that at least part of the reason why he is such an ass is because he is legitimately aware of the dangers overwhelming power like his can bring and he wants humans to rely more on their natural abilities, ultimately leaving Truth undefeated by power and only conquered by Edward's wisdom realizing that while you can't beat God, you can impress him by learning the lesson he wanted to hear, afterwards Truth just simply gives Alphonse's body back and leaves happily, content that finally a person realized the responsibilities and temptations that comes with power.

* TheHero of ''Literature/{{Maoyu}}'' is this in a nutshell. If he ever got in a fight, ''any fight'', he's guaranteed to win. The only thing that's stopping him is that he's not trying to cause a war, but instead have world peace by working alongside Demon Queen.[[spoiler: He is however vulnerable to an entire rifle using army firing enchanted bullets at him.]]

** Whitebeard [[spoiler:can cause tsunamis with his earthquake-causing Tremor-Tremor Fruit, in a world consisting almost entirely of small islands]]. Specifically referred to in-universe as the power that can destroy the world. No wonder he's been in the background so much.

*** Enel, in particular, was so ridiculously powerful that the story had to let him [[TheBadGuyWins get away with his master plan to travel to the moon]] just so he could be PutOnABus (though, fortunately, his secondary goal to destroy Skypeia on his way out was ultimately foiled.) It was later confirmed via WordOfGod that if he did manage to make it onto the mainland, he would have a bounty of over 500,000,000 Berries, which would be impressive even in the New World. Furthermore, between his Rumble-Rumble Fruit (which is ''still'' easily one of the most broken in the series almost ''eighteen years later''), Mantra (aka Observation Haki), and innate physical prowess, Enel is so stupidly overpowered that, as long as he didn't piss off an Emperor, start fights with powerful Haki users, get an Admiral or Vice Admiral sent out to deal with him (and even then, it's a gamble whether any of the Vice Admirals aside from maybe Smoker could win a fight with him without outside aid), or run into Luffy again, he would probably survive just fine in the New World.

** Sugar, who serves Doflamingo, has the Hobby-Hobby power. She can turn anything she touches into a toy. From great big animals, to people, to giants, there seems little she can't turn into a toy with a single touch of her body, though she has to touch you. A person restraining her won't be affected. Once a toy, she can place a {{geas}} on the person to make them loyal to the crew, so the toy cannot fight back no matter how much it wants to. As for rescuing the cursed people [[spoiler:it likely wouldn't happen because once you become a toy all of history forgets you even existed. Friends, family, loved ones, and enemies will no longer remember you or even that there really was a person with your name]]. Even worse, when she ''was'' eventually beaten, a perfect way to foil her power was implemented (which proved a foil in her attempt to gain revenge) and spoiled most ways to expand on any other confrontation.

** Magellan, the warden of Impel Down, has the Venom-Venom Devil Fruit, one of the most effective Devil Fruits in the series. [[PoisonousPerson Everything about him, from his sweat, to his skin, to even his breath are all poisonous]] and he has different varieties from poison that acts like tear gas to poison that can make your skin melt. He can also generate massive waves of poison out of himself, create hydra heads of pure poison to attack people, and any contact with him or his attacks instantly poisons the target. His poison is so powerful that it can kill a person within minutes unless an antidote is administered. However, if you get hit by too many poisons, you're too far gone to be cured and are sentenced to a slow and painful death. The worst part is even if you have some sort of ability that could block the poison, such as Mr. 3's Wax-Wax Fruit, he can just make his poison [[ScissorsCutsRock so strong that it melts steel and rock]]. Plus, he isn't even a Logia type, so he doesn't have any of the usual weaknesses of a Logia Devil Fruit user (such as extra vulnerability to Armament Haki and falling prey to ElementalRockPaperScissors).

** Shinigami started Shibusen to have humans fight kishin because he could not. If he had been freed from Death City when Asura was, the main cast would have had nothing to do because he was strong enough to defeat him on his on. As it is, he's kept effectively useless (combat-wise at the very least) [[BarrierMaiden within]] Death City while the students and his beleaguered staff do the dirty work for him. Aside from the one fight when Asura was inside the city, all we get is tantalising hints via flashbacks and his son, of what this grim reaper's capable of.
** Deconstructed with Excalibur; it is the most powerful sword in existence, but he is too annoying to be tolerated by anyone.
** Asura himself. Only Shingami was strong enough to defeat it, and even by the end of the series the protagonists are no match for him. [[spoiler:And he's got CompleteImmortality]], explaining why Shinigami didn't kill him.

* ''Literature/ThatTimeIGotReincarnatedAsASlime'': Played with. Rimiru is essentially reincarnated into a ''VideoGame/DragonQuest''-like RPG world where he has a massive advantage due to a few unique skills. In particular, with his [[CannibalismSuperpower Predator]] ability, he becomes the most powerful entity within a hundred miles by the second chapter. The series solves this problem by [[GenreShift transitioning from an RPG]] to a FourX game. Rimiru's ability to fight armies quickly becomes overshadowed by his ability to build a town.

** The Logia fruits as a whole have the potential to be this, as one characteristic that almost all of them share is the ability to allow their user to become the element on which they are based, albeit with the element's weaknesses (for example, Crocodile, the user of the Sand Sand fruit, cannot turn into sand if he is wet), thus rendering them virtually immune to physical attacks. Eneru can turn into electricity, and would've just effortlessly steamrolled over everyone in the Skypeia arc if Luffy's powers [[ContrivedCoincidence didn't just happen to make him a living insulator]]. While Blackbeard's Devil Fruit lacks that ability, it has the ability to cancel all other Devil Fruit powers if it hits the target. [[spoiler:He also has access to a (currently unknown) method to give himself a secondary Devil Fruit power (something that would normally kill the user), which he uses to steal Whitebeard's power, one that already breaks the story in its own right, after his death]].

** Akame's [[PoisonedWeapon Murasame]] injects a lethal venom into the blood of whomever it cuts, killing them once it reached their heart. There's no known cure for it either. Naturally, most of her important fights are against enemies that can get around it in some way. The two most obvious weaknesses (poison doesn't work on machines or zombies) come up more than once, and of course enemies turn up that are very hard to hit in the first place.
** Mine's [[SniperRifle Pumpkin]] increases in power the more danger Mine is in, becoming a WaveMotionGun at its strongest level. The [[CriticalStatusBuff nature]] of Pumpkin means that moreso than any other Night Raid member, Mine can punch far above her weight.

** Esdeath's [[AnIcePerson Demon's Extract]] can create ice from nothing, lots of ice. Because she can create ice without limitation, her powers can be used for all sorts of tasks. She can use ice to create bridges, give her a vantage spot, restrain or kill individuals, and flight, etc. Esdeath even took her power to another level by developing Mahapadma, an ability to freeze time within a certain area once a day. She later shows the ability to created entire armies of ice soldiers. Quite literally, the only things that limit the usage of her Teigu are both her own stamina and imagination.

* Star and Stripe, America’s top hero, had the Quirk “New Order”, making her a RealityWarper who could impose “rules” on herself and her surroundings. She was limited to two at a time and usually used one to give herself FlyingBrick powers.

** Exaggerated in the second half of the series, ''New Testament''. It introduces a character ([[spoiler:One-Eyed Othinus]]) that can [[spoiler:destroy and create universes at will.]] And she is the BigBad. The only reason why there is even a plot is because there are people who could do similar things and they [[spoiler:either let her be (Aleister Crowley) or are using her (the True Gremlin group).]]

* ''Manga/OnePunchMan'':

* In ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' Raizen is stated to have once been the most powerful demon in existence. His power was so great that the other Two Kings of Demon World could be easily defeated if he was currently in his prime. What is preventing Raizen from using this power? He's starving. Raizen's power comes from eating human flesh and he gave up the practice hundreds of years ago. Notably on his '''death bed''' Raizen still has S class demon power on par with Yusuke's current powers who as far as S class demons are concerned is a runt in the litter. Raizen is said by everyone who knew him in his prime as the most powerful demon that had ever lived and that his power was so great that his enemies would "piss their pants" if they saw him in action.

** Terrible Tornado [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment of Terror]] is a [[MindOverMatter Psychic]] superhero who is leagues behind Saitama, but the same distance beyond the other S-class heroes. Very few monsters survive encounters with her, and she treats victory as a ForegoneConclusion. Her feats include pulling a meteor down from deep space to kill a ''Franchise/{{Godzilla}}'' {{expy}}, stopping an obscene number of jumbo-sized artillery shells from hitting Earth and then turning them back at the ship that launched them, and pulling an entire ElaborateUndergroundBase out of the ground. And she does it without breaking a sweat. While Saitama's problem is laziness and lack of urgency, Tornado's problem is her tremendous arrogance and [[DestructiveSavior collateral damage]], to the point where she would be fired from the Hero Organization were everyone not so terrified of her.

** The [[BeastOfTheApocalypse|Trihexa]] is considered one of the most powerful beings in the story, to the point where it is stated that only the equally story-breaking Ophis and Great Red would be able to defeat him, as even the likes of [[DestroyerDeity Shiva]] wouldn't be able to destroy him. When he is awakened and released, he begins rampaging across the world and is able to fight against the entire mythological world by himself. Even when other powerful figures such as the Longinus wielders and the Gods try to damage him, he is able to tank it and regenerate any damage inflicted.
