* Volume 4's soundtrack featured a duet between Blake and Sun called "Like Morning Follows Night", which mirrored their conversation in "Taking Control". Sun pretty much vows to keep watching over Blake, and tells her that she can forgive herself for her past actions.

* Nora is attracted to Ren, and the two have a very close friendship. Characters have confused the nature of their relationship, and Nora has even tried to convince herself they're JustFriends. Nora's ImageSong clarifies that she's completely freaked out by the realisation that she's fallen for her best friend, and that she can't figure out how Ren feels about her. It develops into an OfficialCouple after Volume 4, with Nora even calling Ren "Her Man" in Volume 6. Volume 6's opening also has an image of Nora with her arms around Ren at the beginning, and shows Ren with an arm around Nora at the end.

* Throughout their time in Menagerie, Blake and Sun literally brought the best out of each other. Thanks to Blake, Sun became more mature and tactful, and gained a greater understanding of Faunus issues - all without losing his optimism, earnestness and his selflessness in helping his loved ones. As for Blake, Sun gave her the strength to forgive herself for her mistakes, the confidence to embrace her status as a Faunus, and taught her to seek help when dealing with big problems - without destroying Blake's righteousness and sense of justice. In short, they improved each other's flaws without compromising their core ideals - not only is that impressive writing, it gives the two characters amazing chemistry together.

* While the anthologies are not official canon (unlike the Shirow Miwa and Bunta Kiwami serial mangas), with the heavy focus on Ruby/Weiss in their "Red Like Roses" and "Mirror Mirror" anthologies, it's hardly surprising that Blake's "From Shadows" would likewise prominently feature Blake/Yang.
** The very first comic begins with Blake falling asleep against Yang's back while the two ride her bike to the beach together. When they reach the beach, Yang carefully fixes Blake's bow when she notices it's a bit disturbed, reiterating how she thinks it's a cute look for her. When Blake begins to express her insecurities over it just being something to cover up her ears, Yang stops her, making sure she knows that she just sees Blake wearing a cute ribbon, not her attempting to hide something away.
** In a comic where Yang learns that Ruby and Blake had been exchanging books as a way to get to know one another better, she asks to participate too, remarking that she'd like to get to know her partner better.
** When Blake seems to be coming down with something in another comic, Yang immediately begins fretting over her, seeming extremely worried when Blake winds up sleeping most of the day away.
** In a story somewhat similar to "Burning the Candle", Yang gets Blake's attention with a laser pointer after noticing her seeming a bit down. She convinces her to skip class with her, going to get some lunch together to take her mind off things..
** A comic where Blake finds an abandoned cat in the rain, and adopts him for a short time ends with them finding a good home for him. Yang notices Blake's sadness over having to give him away, and stays close to comfort her... which gets framed by a rainbow forming above them.
** After losing her ribbon during a training exercise, Blake winds up thinking back to how she'd been worried about people seeing through her disguise when she first came to Beacon, wondering if Yang had when she complimented her on it their first night there; which was the reason she followed her and became her partner in the Emerald Forest. When Yang finds her again, she gives her a flower crown that she'd made to cover her ears until they could find her ribbon again.
** After being invited out to lunch with Sun and Neptune, Blake remarks that she'd like to go again with Yang sometime.
** Noticing that Blake seems to be isolating herself again, training in private, Yang tracks her down, again reassuring her that she can depend on her friends, telling her that she was worried for her. Gets capped off by this gem:
-->Blake: "If you have time, mind being my training partner?"
-->Yang: "You got it! Should I call Ruby too?"
-->Blake: "No... just you."
-->Yang: "Mm...? [Blushing, looking almost hopeful] Are you asking me out...?"
-->Blake: "You are such an optimist."
* In the full release of the official Manga by Shirow Miwa, the chapters recounting the Black trailer are given a small expansion on the end. It flashes forward to post-volume 1, where Blake has just woken up from having dreamed about the events of the trailer. Suddenly, she's interrupted by Weiss and Yang, and Yang is suddenly overloaded by CutenessProximity, gushing over how "even [Blake's] ears are so cute!!", how cool looking they are, how they match Blake's hair and pajamas, and going on about how they both have messy hair in the morning, complete with LuminescentBlush and what almost looks like hearts in her eyes.
* In the Bunta Kinami manga, while Yang is having a blast taking down an Ursa, Blake says "Ugh... It's hard to tell which is the bloodthirsty beast.", to which Yang responds "Now, now, Blake. Flattery will get you nowhere." Yang's line even has a heart at the end.
** In chapter 7, we are treated to an extra scene between Ruby, Weiss and Yang following Blake's outburst that outed her as a Faunus, Yang is uncharacteristically quiet and withdrawn and is unsure of what to do, saying how she couldn't let herself chase after Blake, because if she did and learned whatever truth Blake was hiding, it would feel like they could never go back to how things were - greatly Foreshadowing events to come between them - as a bonus, Yang is holding her left hand throughout the speech, much like she does as a result of PTSD-induced shakes following the events involving Blake at the Fall of Beacon.
** Chapter 8 has Yang outright glomp Blake and nuzzle against her when they're reunited, with Yang tearfully holding onto Blake and admonishing her for making her worry.

* The lyrics for "Red Like Roses" include the lines "Black the Beast descends from shadows/Yellow Beauty burns gold", mixing Yang into Blake's thematic allusion of Beauty and the Beast.
* "Armed and Ready" sings of Yang's suffering and PTSD after losing her arm while trying to save Blake from Adam; it uses the lyrics "My eyes are open wide. Iím racing to her side, thereís nothing that I wonít do for her".
* The song "All That Matters". The chorus plays during Team RWBYís reunion, but the extended version from the soundtrack makes it clear that the song is entirely from Yangís point of view. Thereís a great deal of sad defeat to it, as she seems to expect her friendship with Blake will never last and Blake will likely just leave her again. And yet, she canít help but accept Blake back and risk going through all that misery again because Blake simply means that much to her. Notes from the song continue to play during several heartfelt moments between them.
* The lyrics for "Nevermore" mostly deal with how Yang and Blake overcame Adam, but also that the two girls will always be there for each other. The song is also a potential ShoutOut to the song "Evermore" from Film/BeautyAndTheBeast2017, which is about the Beast singing how Belle will never leave him.
* And if it weren't enough, there is a song called "Bmblb" (pronounced "bumblebee") on the Volume 4 soundtrack. "Bumblebee" is one of the fan names for the Blake/Yang coupling, and the female singer is very clearly singing romantically about another girl (her "queen"). If nothing else, it's a nod and tease by the creators towards the popular coupling.

* During the initiation test in the Emerald, the new students were supposed to partner up with the first person they meet. Itís notable that Blake purposely sought out Yang to partner with her. The shadow that was tailing Yang was confirmed to be Blake, not a Grimm. This is similar to how Pyrrha purposely sought out Jaune, and in contrast to Ruby and Weissís accidental eye contact.
* One of the more eyebrow-raising moments can be found on the directorís cut of Volume 2. While Teams RWBY and JNPR are eating in the cafeteria, Nora throws a cherry and Yang catches it in her mouth. Whatís interesting is that there is leftover animation of Yang tying a cherry stem into a knot and then shows it to Blake, eyeing her all the while. The commentary says that this was too risqué to include, so they took out the cherry stem, but didnít have time to change the animation.
* When Blake vents her frustration about why nobody is challenging Torchwick or investigating the White Fang, her team is spurred to help her track them down. Yang fist pumps, points at Blake and declares "I love it when you're feisty", prompting Blake to smile at her. When their investigation leads to a fight with Torchwick in a Paladin, Blake reacts very strongly to seeing Yang getting sucker-punched by the mecha, causing Ruby to hurriedly reassure her that Yang is going to be okay.

* When Yang defeats Mercury, Blake is the only teammate who gives her a standing ovation. When Yang is tricked into attacking Mercury, it's Blake's hesitation to believe her (not Weiss or Ruby's) that brings Yang to tears (the very first time we see her cry in the show). Blake admits it's because Yang's situation is all too familiar for her, but she believes her regardless. That parallel becomes clear when Adam, confirmed as Blake's abusive ex-lover, threatens Blake that he'll make her suffer for her betrayal by destroying everything she loves. When he spots Yang desperately searching for Blake, and Blake's horror at seeing her, he decides to start with Yang. He stabs Blake in the stomach which drives Yang into a tearful rage. After Adam cuts off her arm and renders her unconscious, Blake throws herself over Yang, distracts Adam with a clone and flees with Yang despite her stomach wound. The difference between Yang and Adam's treatment of Blake makes it clear who cares more for Blake's happiness. It's also noteworthy that right after Adam says he'll destroy everything Blake loves, the very next shot is of Yang searching for her. It's...not subtle.
* When Beacon is being evacuated, Yang and Blake are lying on the ground with bandaged wounds. Despite being curled up with pain, Blake reaches over to grip the unconscious Yang's hand, sobbing her apologies. Once everyone is safe, she disappears, the implication being that she's abandoning everyone because of her deep guilt over Yang's career-ending injury and because it's the only way to protect them all from Adam. Yang takes Blake's departure very personally, and it mimics what happened years before with her father--both Taiyang and Yang experienced a sudden, unexplained departure of a woman they care a great deal for at a moment of great need (Blake leaving an injured Yang and Raven leaving Taiyang just after Yang's birth).

* After Sun gets injured by Ilia, he and Blake have a talk about why Blake left her team. Blake insists that she only brings harm to the people she cares about. Sun tells Blake that the reason her friends fight for her is because they want to, and it hurts when she pushes them away. He then goes on to say that he would willingly get hurt again if thatís what it took to protect BlakeÖ and immediately promises that Yang would do the same.

* Finally arriving at the long-awaited Yang and Blake vs Adam fight, Yang enters the scene launching her bike (which shares its name with their ship!) off a cliff right into Adam. After Yang fends him off while Blake catches her breath, the two stand hand-in-hand as they prepare to fight Adam, together. This time, when Blake make a DeclarationOfProtection regarding Yang, saying that they're protecting each other while holding her trembling hand, Yang is obviously moved.
** Notably, when Adam sees how Blake and Yang look at each other, he becomes enraged and tries to kill Yang with a charged moonslice.
* As the fight with Yang and Blake against Adam continues in "Seeing Red", there's a lot of this. Blake continues to hold Yang's hand while declaring that she doesn't have a choice except to win this time because she has people who actually care about her depending on her (with Adam directly comparing it to how she had promised to be with him before realizing what a monster he was). Yang immediately grabs Gambol Shroud when Adam sends it back at Blake, looking extremely distressed and seeming very protective in doing so. At one point Adam angrily screams, asking what Blake even sees in Yang, sounding every bit like the jealous ex- he is. After they've finished Adam, Yang comforts a sobbing Blake, who tearfully reiterates that she won't break her promise as they embrace. * During the Volume 6 finale, Yang and Blake are together constantly. After rejoining the others and boarding the airship, Yang sits with and holds Blake as she explains what happened to them. As Ruby comforts Blake, she and Yang exchange a knowing look after which Yang looks away shyly. Once the battle with the Leviathan is finished, as they're flying to Atlas, Yang takes Blake's hand, reaffirming that they're there for each other (notably opposed to the prior instances in the volume where Blake took her hand instead).
