* Karl Fairburne is a Lieutenant in the US Army's [[UsefulNotes/{{OSS}} Office of Strategic Services]]. His specialty is conducting lone missions behind enemy lines, as well as assassinating high-value targets through a number of means, mostly involving sniping his targets.
* In fact, ''all of his missions'' involve sniping, due to his tendency to carry more ammunition for his SniperRifle than for his pistol or submachine guns.
* Whenever he manages to fire a really good shot from his sniper rifle, an ArrowCam will depict his bullet hitting the target in gory, graphic, detail, complete with slow-motion effect. While most prominently this would appear when [[BoomHeadshot he gets a headshot]], this can also include shots to the heart, lungs, kidneys, and even, most infamously, [[GroinAttack in the groin]].
* All of his missions ultimately involve destroying [[StupidJetpackHitler Nazi Wonder-weapons]] being tested in the field. This also included assassinating the Nazi scientists and officers involved in the project, in order to leave NoPlansNoPrototypeNoBackup.
** During the North African campaign, he was tasked with investigating a top-secret German project, which turned out to be a prototype super-heavy tank called the P.1000 "Ratte", a giant behemoth armed with 12-inch naval guns, and designed to help the Afrika Korps break through to Suez.
** In Italy, he was tasked with taking out prototype anti-ship missiles. These missiles were capable of sinking even the most heavily-armed of warships in a few hits, and genuinely posed a threat to any future Allied amphibious landings should they be mass-produced.
** In Berlin, his job was to collect intel relating to the V-weapons project, which eventually culminates in him finding and destroying V2 rockets loaded with experimental weapons and killing the project heads, who were planning on selling their ideas and secrets to the Soviets.
* Prior to being assigned to the OSS, he was also part of the British Army's SOE. In this position, he undertook missions for the British Eighth Army in North Africa in 1942. During the Italian campaign in mid-1943, he began undertaking missions for the OSS, with him formally joining their ranks sometime around late 1943.
* His final combat mission during the European War is also his most famous: The Battle of Berlin. Unlike Sgt. Jack Barnes, who also fought in the same battle alongside his Soviet allies as an observer, Fairburne was tasked with killing Soviets as well as Nazis, due to the top-secret nature of his mission.
* In [[VideoGame/ZombieArmyTrilogy one alternate timeline]], he fights against NaziZombies conjured by Adolf Hitler himself. The version seen in the Pantheon, however, has no memory of this, confirming that he is from the "normal" World War II-timeline. Also, that version of him lacks the deep voice that this Fairburne is known for having.
* It's because of this final mission in Berlin that he hates both Nazis and communists, especially those seeking to use advanced prototype weaponry.
* In addition to these, he's also been involved with missions involving the assassination of Hitler's {{body double}}s. The methods in which he takes out these targets can vary, ranging from a BoobyTrap, to sniping, or improvising a way with available weapons on-hand.
* Upon his ascension, he ends up behind German lines in the Pantheon once more, all alone with nothing but a Springfield SniperRifle, a Thompson, and a Welrod pistol. After a few minutes, he finally comes across a German patrol, composed of Waffen-SS soldiers. In no time, he wipes all of them out with several well-placed headshots. Looting their bodies, he finds documents relating to German facilities, namely [[Pantheon/ArtificiallyMadeVessels Fort Schmerzen and Der Flakturm]] and what exactly the Nazis are doing within these fortresses.
* Eventually, after some more trekking, he comes across friendly forces in the Pantheon, some US Army Rangers from the 2nd Ranger Battalion. Lt. Mike Powell, the leader of the group, immediately recognizes Fairburne's uniform and weapons as American, and promptly introduces himself as well as Lt. Randall and Sgt. Taylor to him.
** He is then introduced to the dozens of other Allied deities in the Pantheon such as B.J. Blaskowicz, Steve Rogers, and Sgt. Jack Barnes. Presenting the captured papers, they immediately realize the potential of having him as one of their go-to agents in operating behind German lines.
** Following these introductions, he begins conducting lone-wolf missions behind the German lines, continuing to gather intel relating to the Nazi Wonder-weapons projects, as well as destroying any prototypes along the way.
** Among the Nazi organizations in the Pantheon, he considers HYDRA to be the greatest threat under his expertise, especially their incarnation as the Nazi Science Division. He also considers the equally elusive Millennium organization to be a priority target in assassination, due to their vast amount of wealth and influence.
** In addition, after learning about the Soviet and Ultranationalist forces in the Pantheon, he begins teaming up with Captain Price, Soap [=MacTavish=], and Team Metal in stopping their efforts to steal Nazi technology and use it for their own planned takeover the Pantheon.
** Is rather disappointed that the Pantheon's version of Hitler is no longer in it. Instead, he decides to go on a mission to assassinate Adenoid Hynkel, [[ClosestThingWeGot the closest thing the Pantheon has to the Nazi leader]].
* Thanks to his experiences in North Africa and Europe, he has difficulty in trusting several German and/or Soviet deities from the same time period as him, regardless of alignment. In particular, he is initially wary of deities like Sgt. Viktor Reznov and U-511, who carry the Red Star and German Balkenkreuz on their uniforms. Despite this, he does help them eventually whenever the Nazis or evil-aligned Soviets try to kill or kidnap them to further their agendas.
* Like Pvt. Robert Zussman, he is of German descent. As a result, they both get along quite well, bonding over the burden of being Germans living in America DuringTheWar.
* After spending some time in the Pantheon, he eventually comes across the other snipers in the Pantheon. Like him, they are just as skilled when it comes to taking out their targets. While he does manage to make friends with a number of them such as Lockon Stratos, others, like Widowmaker, absolutely refuse to associate themselves with the OSS agent, and would rather kill him.
** Sinon comes to like him, but questions his pragmatic and sometimes brutal methods of killing, both in close-quarters and from afar. Fairburne replies by saying that that's how war is: [[WarIsHell hell]], and that you need to be creative when you're operating when TrappedBehindEnemyLines.
** As for his relation with Mr. Mundy, it's complicated. While Fairburne respects his skills and his policies on how to deal with targets, he doesn't like the fact that he is a mercenary rather than a professional soldier. As a result, he seems him as a WorthyOpponent of sorts whenever they meet on the shooting range or battlefield.
* One of his weirdest allies is not from his time period, but rather, from the UsefulNotes/TheEighties, in the form of Kung Fury. Specifically, their alliance is forged in their mutual hatred of Nazis, specifically the now non-ascended Hitler, aka Kung Fuhrer.
* Interestingly, he is able to forge a [[EnemyMine strange alliance]] with the likes of Vito and Michael Corleone or even Team Buciaratti, due to having worked with TheDon of another Mafia group DuringTheWar. However, he will carry out missions for them on only one condition: it has to involve Axis forces only. No innocent civilians or rival gangsters allowed.

* The elite paratrooper branch of the German Luftwaffe during UsefulNotes/WorldWarII, the Jager Troops are some of Nazi Germany's most skilled and battle-hardended soldiers. Compared to the Heer Infanterie, their regular German Army counterparts, they're far better trained and equipped, have access to more automatic weaponry, and are composed entirely of volunteers rather than conscripts. While normally deployed via airborne and gliderborne operations, by the latter half of the European War, these troops would be deployed as regular infantrymen instead following heavy losses sustained during the Invasion of Crete in 1941. Despite this, they were still trained as paratroopers, and could perform Airborne operations and drops when needed.
* Within their echleons, Jagers have several variants. These include: the Support Jager, armed with machine guns such as the MG 42 and FG 42, and the Vampir Jager, who are equipped with special nightvision equipment and accompanying battery packs. What's more, there also exist the Valkyrie Jager, a unit composed of the best Jager Troops, and wearing their own unique black uniforms. Their members are all essentially elite variants of the regular Infantry and Jager Troops as well as the TargetSpotter class, carrying mostly the same weaponry as their regular Infantry and Jager counterparts. However, certain members of the Valkyrie, such as their Officers, Snipers, and Faust Troopers, carry better weaponry such as the Mauser [=M712=] machine pistol and Swedish Mauser SniperRifle, while the latter are equipped with SuperPrototype AntiInfantry rocket launchers called the Neunfaust.
* Thanks to their rather diverse weapon loadout, plus access to more advanced weaponry than many of their peers in the ''Heer'' and ''Waffen-SS'', Jager Troops have been known to outgun any and all Allied soldiers and Resistance fighters they come across. Thus, when an entire unit of Jager Troops is defending a German-held position, odds are that the position in question is a highly vital chokepoint such as a supply base, research facility, or wonderweapon production line. Unfortunately, because of this style of deployment, there were never enough Jager Troops to go around, particularly when they were tasked with defending frontline sectors.
* During Lt. Karl Fairburne's tours of duty in North Africa, Italy, and France, he would encounter the Jager Troops on numerous occasions, both at or near the frontline, or guarding [=VIP=]s and/or important military/research facilities.
** General Franz Vahlen, head of Project ''Seuche'', utilized these German Paratroopers as EliteMooks, tasked with guarding his headquarters at Kasserine Pass, the Pont du Fahs Airfield, and defending the Ratte Factory. In addition, several platoons of Jagers also aided the Schutzvollstrecker in their ultimately unsuccessful AssassinationAttempt on British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
** General Heinz Bohm, the commander of the Axis Forces in the Allagra region of Southern Italy, commanded several companies of Jager Troops, and deployed them against the Italian Partisan groups operating the region, as well as having them guard important facilities and personnel (among which included Bohm's own mountain fortress).
** To protect important personnel related to the "Deathstorm" Program as well as protect the Italian Social Republic from increasingly persistent Partisan activity, the Valkyrie Jager were deployed in early 1944 to select locations. Karl Fairburne would end up clashing with soldiers from this unit twice. The first would be in Southern Italy, after luring a squad of Valkyries into an ambush and wiping them out. The second, and final, time would be in Southern Germany, with bulk of their forces protecting the "Deathstorm" prototype and personnel. The unit would ultimately be wiped out by Karl Fairburne as well as the explosion of the "Deathstorm" warheads.
** In early 1944, Fairburne would once again encounter the Jager Troops in France, helping to defend against the Allied invasion forces, guard a number of military headquarters and facilities, both in Germany and in different parts of France. In addition to the Fallschirmjagers (German Paratroopers), Fairburne would also encounter ''Heer" (German Army) Jagers and their Waffen SS counterparts, the Ausland SD. Compared to their counterparts in Italy and North Africa, these troops are more competent in hand-to-hand combat, [[KungFuProofMook and thus able to counter most melee attacks from the front]].
* The Jager Troops that would end up in the Pantheon are none other than the German Fallschirmjager, German Paratroopers established by and under the command of Germany's Air Force, the Luftwaffe. Originally, only the Valkyrie Jager, the most elite of the Jager, were ascended into the Pantheon. These troops were, much like in their original universe, tasked with guarding important German military bases, research facilities, and [=VIP=]s (which include high-ranking Axis officers and scientists). However, due to the growing influx of Western Allied and Soviet presence in the Pantheon, German infantry who could protect the Reich-controlled sections of the Pantheon were in increasingly in demand. And so, following the Heer's, Waffen-SS's, and Kriegsmarine's expansions in the Pantheon, it was also decided to expand the German Luftwaffe's ground forces as well.
** An entire regiment of German Paratroopers were ascended as part of this effort, reinforcing the company-sized Valkyrie Jager already deployed in the Pantheon. The two units would then be combined into a single Division-sized unit, with the combined Jager Troops receiving the title of '''Unholy Legion of [[TheEnemyWeaponsAreBetter Better-Equipped Enemy Forces]]'''. This title is thanks in no part to being equipped with the most advanced weapons that Nazi Germany has to offer, which include automatic rifles like the [=Mkb=] 42 (H), its successor, the STG 44, and the FG 42, machine guns like the MG 42, and semiautomatic rifles like the Gewehr 43. These weapons were on par with or superior to their Allied counterparts, often featuring higher magazine capacities, faster rates of fire, were generally lighter, and had more customizability options. The Valkyrie Jager, on the other hand, also wielded a number of custom and SuperPrototype weaponry, which included the Mauser [=M712=] machine pistol, sniper variants of the Swedish Mauser, and, most notably, the Neunfaust launcher, an AntiInfantry variant of the Fleigerfaust launcher capable of destroying lightly armored vehicles.
* While they were only shown deployed as conventional infantry in their home universe, in the Pantheon, the Fallschirmjagers are deployed both in the conventional infantry role as well as being deployed by both parachute and glider, allowing them to launch surprise attacks even in Allied or neutral territories. This is thanks to more competent German commanders like Johann Schmidt and Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse being in command of the German Forces deployed in the Pantheon, and seeing their full potential for both special operations as well as frontline fighting. Strasse in particular admired the Fallschirmjager thanks in large part to having worked alongside the Waffen-SS's own paratroopers, the Black Guard, in his own universe. Deathshead himself has, in fact, a platoon of Valkyrie Jager under his personal command, to serve as part of his personal Commando force.
* With this arrival of fresh reinforcements, the Jagers, now operating as a much larger force, began defending German and Axis-held areas of the Pantheon from Allied and Soviet attacks. While the Valkyries, not unlike in their home universe, focus mainly on protecting [=VIP=]s and top-secret German military and research facilities, the regular Jagers, in addition to protecting Luftwaffe headquarters and airbases, are also deployed close to or on the frontline. While under the overall command of Luftwaffe General Heinz Bohm (who also commands the German Forces in the Italian Theater of the Pantheon), they're also placed under the command of other German officers in the other occupied Reich territories. Jagers operating in North Africa are placed under the command of General Franz Vahlen, while units operating in France operate under the supervision of Obbergruppenfuhrer Abelard Moller.
** Amongst the [=VIP=]s that the Jagers have been tasked with guarding include: The Four Libertines, Italian Fascists and close allies of the Nazis, scientists and officers of HYDRA, Lt. Col. Arnold Berkman, a former Germanian Army officer who has since decided to work closely with his new Nazi and HYDRA allies, and Sophie, the White Witch revived for the Germanian Empire who, like Berkman, has decided to throw in her lot with the Nazis for the sake of revenge against Eylstadt. Most of these deities [[BodyguardingABadass arguably don't need their protection due to being far more powerful than the German Paratroopers]]. However, due to a number of them having already been killed or nearly killed in the past in their home universes, having additional men to protect these [=VIP=]s is necessary in order to avoid a repeat.
* In war-torn areas such as the outskirts of Omaha Beach, the German-occupied areas in and around Eindhoven and Hell's Highway, in the mountains and countrysides of Eylstadt, and even in Berlin itself, the Fallschirmjager would fight alongside their Heer Infanterie and Waffen-SS counterparts. Fighting constantly against both Western Allied and Soviet forces, the German Paratroopers' nickname of "The Green Devils" would soon be proven true once more. Compared to their aforementioned counterparts in the German Army and Waffen-SS, the Jagers were a cut above them, possessing not only comparable or superior weapons and equipment but also superior training, combat experience, and weapons handling.
** Against most Soviet, British, and regular American infantry units, the Jagers were able to inflict heavy casualties on their adversaries. Even Rangers and Paratroopers, the US Army's best infantry units, were given a run for their money. Sergeants Matthew Baker and Joe Hartsock and the men from their squads, having already fought Fallschirmjagers in France and the Netherlands, were less than pleased at having to run into these German units again. The same sentiment was shared by Easy Company, who had fought the Green Devils in and around Carentan following the D-Day landings and were now encountering them once more in the Pantheon.
** That said, while offering a difficult challenge to most Allied troops, they in turn were bested by some of the best agents that the Allied Forces had to offer. The aforementioned Lt. Karl Fairburne, having already fought against entire battalions of Jagers in North Africa, Italy, and France, knew all of their tactics, weapons, and how they were deployed. Manon Batiste, having fought Fallschirmjager during the Battle of Monte Cassino, employed her skills in guerilla warfare and sabotage against the Jager Troops, managing to destroy a number of their ammunition supplies and armored support once more. William J. Blazkowicz, being the OneManArmy he is, could wipe the floor with them, being able to outclass them in any firefight or stealth mission, no thanks to having ascended into the Pantheon with his new SuperSoldier body. Steve Rogers, thanks in no part to the super soldier serum, could throw the Jagers and the equipment around like ragdolls. Even a number of US Airborne troops like the aforementioned Easy Company, Baker, Hartsock, Paddock, Jasper, and Conner, could still defeat them in a prolonged firefight, thanks to their tactics and superior teamwork.
* Thanks to the presence of organizations like HYDRA and officers like the aforementioned Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse, certain Fallschirmjager units, the Valkyries in particular, would also receive more advanced weaponry than the ones they were already issued with. Many of these were Deathshead's own weapons designs from the 1946 of his home universe, being improvements of existing German small arms. Some units, however, have been equipped with prototypes of Deathshead's far more advanced weapons designs from the 1960 where [[AlternateHistoryNaziVictory the Nazis won World War II]]. These troops are particularly dangerous, as the weapons and technology they carry, some of which include completely new designs like the Laserkraftwerk, easily outgun the vast majority of Allied units, and are even capable of threatening deities of up to Intermediate level when used correctly. Neutralizing these troops and capturing or destroying their weapons has, in fact, become a top priority. Mass production of these advanced weapons would and could potentially give the Nazis a chance at turning the stalemate that is the ForeverWar between them and the Allies in the Pantheon into yet another slaughter and potential victory, and, thanks to Blazkowicz's own experiences, the Allies in the Pantheon have made sure not to give the Nazis any chance to mass produce this technology.
* Thanks in no part to their status as elite troops as well as their competency on the battefield, the Jagers are also being utilized in a number of other roles aside from conventional Airborne and Infantry operations. These operations are mainly top secret in nature, and often involve them operating alongside other elite Axis units from the Heer and Waffen-SS.
** Alongside the Schutzvollstrecker, platoons of Jagers and Valkyries have been deployed within the Principality of Eylstadt following its retaking by Izetta and the Allied Forces assisting her. Knowing that they can't fight a conventional war due to the White Witch's power, they instead fight a protracted guerilla war, performing their own espionage and sabotage missions well behind the frontlines. These have mainly involved the destruction of important railway hubs, road networks, and communications centers. However, should the opportunity present itself, their mission would also involve performing or assisting the Schutzvollstrecker in an AssassinationAttempt or [[StraightForTheCommander kidnapping attempt]] on the Archduchess of Eylstadt, Ortfine Fredericka von Eylstadt, who by this point has been targeted no less than four times by the Germanians and later the Nazis.
** With the revival of Operation ''Kraken'' well underway in the Pantheon, the Jagers have once again been called into action to not only help guard the V2 rocket testing facilities, U-boat pens, and shipyards needed for the operation, but also to now be part of the now-expanded force of German saboteurs and spies intent on infiltrating other Houses in the Pantheon and wreaking havoc there. A number of them have also been deployed aboard the operation's flagship, a ''Graf Zeppelin''-class aircraft carrier, in order to prevent its sabotage and destruction by any deities who oppose them.
