* SuddenDeath: This is first episode in the series to feature a sudden death elimination. Lindsay, on a technicality, was the last person to ''[[ExactWords cross]]'' [[ExactWords the finish line]] in the final race.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Heather mentions a possibility of giving Lindsay her invincibility to protect the latter from elimination but refuses, finding it risky, which becomes the catalyst to Lindsay finally standing up against Heather in a SignatureScene of this episode. Thing is, we can assume that had Heather given her invincibility to Lindsay, she herself would've automatically become the (first and) last person to cross the finish line, meaning she would've been eliminated instead per the weird rules of this challenge, so her decision to keep the immunity to herself was understandable.

* LameComeback: After Lindsay's entire rant against Heather, including two long string of curses, and ending by calling her shoes "tacky", while everyone else is cheering Lindsay on or laughing at Heather, all Heather says in return is telling Lindsay to go jump in the piranha pool before storming off.

Thus, [[CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot everyone could have announced right then and there that they're not going to participate, and they would have all been safe from elimination by that logic]]. Chris simply pulled a BatmanGambit on the contestants in this episode. If everyone could just have announced that they weren't going to participate? Yes, they could. But they would never do such a thing, and Chris knew it.

* AtLeastIAdmitIt: Duncan thinks Heather's treatment of Lindsay is cold. When Heather retorts that he scares people into submission, Duncan retorts that he's honest with people.
