Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and Rabbit are spending a dark, stormy day inside at Christopher Robin’s. They venture to the attic where they decide to play chess, with them playing the roles of the missing pieces. Piglet tries to hide, frightened by the storm outside, but he finds himself in a medieval fantasy where he is conscripted as a knight by King Pooh’s court to slay a dreadful dragon.

!!This episode contains examples of the following tropes.tropes:
* AndYouWereThere: Piglet’s fantasy has his friends in the roles they were going to play in the real world. Pooh is the king, Tigger is the bishop. Rabbit is a wizard and Eeyore is a dragon, though it’s pointed out neither position exists in chess. The fantasy versions of the characters all are unfamiliar with Piglet.

* HalfwayPlotSwitch: The first part of the episode revolves around Pooh and friends trying to find something to do on a rainy day and venturing nervously into the spooky attic of Christopher Robin's house. But once they find a chess set and decide to play the game, with Piglet play-acting the role of a knight to replace a missing piece, the plot switches to a medieval fantasy, with Piglet as a reluctant knight called upon to fight a dragon.

The plot also shifts to focus on Piglet facing his fears in contrast to the ensemble cast approach of the first part of the episode.
* HalloweenEpisode: Subverted. Despite having nothing to do with Halloween, Disney would later market it as one half of the Halloween-themed VHS "Spookable Pooh" released in the 90's (alongside "Rock-A-Bye Pooh Bear"), presumably because the first half of the episode focuses on the group navigating Christopher’s spooky house during a storm.

* OrWasItADream: Implied towards the end of the episode, when Piglet hears the Eeyore-dragon's hee-hawing roar even after his fantasy is over.
