* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: Played with. After the song towards the end of the episode, Ember is shown covering her ears and says that Smolder can stay at the school as long as they stop singing.

* WithFriendikeThese: Ember accuses Thorax of having a hand in the children’s disappearance and threatens to declare war on his kingdom, despite them being friends, as he points out.

** Even though pukwudgies are creatures from Myth/NativeAmericanMythology, their appearance and behavior borrow heavily from [[Film/{{Critters}} the Crites]], from [[KillerRabbit being small, furry and vicious]] [[MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily with sharp teeth]] to [[BeTheBall their abilities to curl up into a ball and roll/bounce,]] [[SpikeShooter and shoot their sharp quills]].

* SplitScreenReaction: After they learn that each of the non-pony race students are missing, we see Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Applejack react to the shocking news with a BigWhat in the same SplitScreen used for the revelation.

* BullyingADragon: Both metaphorically and literally. Chancellor Neighsay insults the other creatures to their faces and says that allowing them into a school would destroy Equestria. The other leaders are all angered by this, and after being insulted one too many times, all of them (including [[GentleGiant Thorax]]) approach him with angry looks in their eyes until Celestia is able to talk them down and convince them Twilight knows what she's doing.

* KillerRabbit: The pukwudgies, which appear to be adorable, colorful little furry critters... until they get angry, bare their sharp fangs and start launching their quills like missiles.

* OnlySaneMan: Thorax is the only leader that doesn't try to blame anyone for the students running away or threaten a war with anyone and is shocked when Ember, a friend of his, accuses him of hiding something.

* ShockwaveStomp: When Chancellor Neighsay insists that the school will remain closed after Twilight breaks his lock, he punctuates it by stomping his hoof to produce a shockwave that ruffles everyone present. Twilight and the others aren't willing to back down, however.

* SpeakInUnison: Although they are not at the same place, Grampa Gruff, Prince Rutherford, Thorax, Ember and Seaspray are shown all saying "Our student is ''gone''!" at the same time through a SplitScreen.

With all the students collected, and Celestia and the guardians from the various species having arrived, Twilight breaks the magic seal, officially reopening the school. However, Chancellor Neighsay emerges from a portal where the lock once was to demand answers, still refusing anypony entry to the school due to his final decision. He again reiterates that the school is not accredited and the non-pony students are dangerous, but Twilight insists that this will be a school of friendship and doesn't have to follow the EEA rules. With little to argue against, Neighsay leaves in a huff, still blindly convinced that Twilight's school would bring ruin to Equestria. The students are able to convince their guardians to let them keep learning friendship, who all more or less agree, thus restoring their own friendships and alliances in the process, and a new school session starts, but without the rigors of the EEA rules, with each of Twilight's friends handling their lessons in their own way.

* AdultFear: Having children under your protection gone missing. The guardians' behavior in blaming the other and going to war because of it (minus [[OnlySaneMan Thorax]]) easily translates to AngerBornOfWorry.

* NotSoDifferent: Celestia shuts down Neighsay's declaration that allowing other creatures to join ponies won't work by pointing out that earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi once thought the same way about each other.

* RealityEnsues: The Everfree Forest is still not a safe place to hang out in long term, so when six unattended kids set up camp there, they only manage to avoid trouble for so long before the inevitable monster attack.

* AnAesop: If you feel in your heart that something is right, you shouldn't give up on it too easily; if you're doing something that's never been done before, the old rules might not cut it any more.

* OOCIsSediousBusiness: Even Celestia is shown worried when the other leaders start to turn violent when they are discussing the missing students and quietly tells Twilight to find the students before their world is at war.

* BadLiar: When Pinkie asks Sandbar why he's ordered so many cupcakes, he claims he's just "really hungry".
