* WeaksauseWeakness: Puar and Upa manage to defeat Fangs the Vampire by utilising vampire weaknesses, such as having Upa consume gloves of garlic and breathe in his face, having Puar transform into a porcupine when Fangs tries to drink his blood, and having Upa make the symbol of the cross with his body. This causes Fangs to try and flee from them allowing Puar to knock him into the water by transforming into a giant hand.

** A better example is Bora, after he's wished back to life by the Dragon Balls, and is [[DeathIsCheap the first of a long trend in the series]].
* BookEnds: The final episodes of the arc serve as this to the original Emperor Pilaf arc. Goku reunites with Grandpa Gohan, whose actions helped set the story off in the first place, and has a rematch with Pilaf to collect the final Dragon Ball. They're a subtle indication that this was intended to originally be the GrandFinale of the series, [[SeriesFauxnale before its popularity allowed it to continue on for much longer]].

** For the anime at least Pilaf's return also serves as one for the Dragon Ball hunt that began in the Red Ribbon Army arc. Pilaf searching and acquiring one of the Dragon Balls is what kickstarted the second hunt for the Dragon Balls so it's only fitting that he would find the final Ball to conclude the second hunt.

* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Goku is revealed not to have even a trace of evil in his soul, although that was already made apparent earlier in the series.

* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Goku is revealed not to have even a trace of evil in his soul, when Spike the Devilman's Devilmite Beam has no effect on him, although that was already made apparent earlier in the series.

* NoSell: Spike the Devilman has a move where he hits his opponents with a beam that amplifies their inner evil that it will cause them to explode. It doesn't work on Goku as he's pure of heart.
* {{Nosebleed}}: Weaponized in the manga and Japanese airing of the anime as during Yamcha's fight against See-Through, Krillin pulls up Bulma's top in front of Roshi, causing him to nosebleed onto the invisible man, allowing Yamcha to see him.

Added DiffLines:

* WanderingTheEarth: After Bora is returned to life with the Dragon Balls, Roshi tells Goku that for the next three years before the upcoming World Martial Arts Tournament he should wander the Earth and grow in strength in his own way. Unlike the last time he sent Goku off into the world Roshi makes sure to ban Goku from using the Nimbus so that he will be forced to make his way across the Earth by foot as part of his training.

* ShoutOut: One of the Underworld fighters is called Spike the Manga/{{Devilman}}. Yeah, it's pretty obvious.
