A man gets in an argument with his wife about how to best raise their son, and crashes his car, which also takes the life of his spouse. An assemblyman whose main platform is making roads safer (mainly due to connections with a road construction company) takes the man to court on vehicular manslaughter charges, and [=TAC=] steps in to help the accused. Meanwhile, Marissa is acting differently than usual, leading her coworkers to speculate on why.

* FailedASpotCheck: Part of the defense's argument is that, even though there may have been a sign warning of road issues before the client crashed, the client had no reason to consider it pertinent information at the time. They illustrate this point by removing a sign from the courtroom that had been opposite of the jury for the entire trial, and nobody can remember what was written on it...including the judge.
