** Viera's attempt to teach Gaz a lesson in Episode 8 only succeeding in making Gaz hate her and want her dead. After all, Gaz is a spoiled brat who's used to everyone being too afraid of her to defy her; when she meets someone willing to stand up to her, of course she's going to be too petty to let it go.

** A big part of Yuuei and the reason why they have different Departments is ''networking'', which is important for any industry. Bakugou more or less shoots himself in the foot as word of his Jerkass behavior spreads to the rest of the school. The Support Department gives him their worst service when they got word of how he badmouthed the support equipment they made for him. The Management Department steer clear of him due to his negative image and reputation makes him difficult to sell to the public. Bakugou unwittingly is sabotaging his own career prospects, something he fails to realize until its pointed out to him because he disregards everyone as extras.

* ChaoticNeutral's [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/20689988/chapters/49143299 Salt Series]] has 3 chapters that all delve into 3 possible scenarios for this trope to ensue with Lila's lies.
** Chapter 1 centers on Nino who discovers that trusting Lila to put him in contact with a director so he can show said director the film he was making for a contest instead of finishing the film for the contest or submitting a copy of the finished product means he missed out on a legitimate chance to get his work recognized focusing on one that didn't exist.
*** Adrien also gets bitten by this trope when Nino, understandably, reacts badly to finding out his best friend knew Lila was a liar and said nothing, completely cutting Adrien out of his life (Alya is also pissed at Adrien for this). Conversely, Marinette proves herself both by not saying "I told you so" and by entering Nino's unfinished project to the contest for him, netting him favorable comments and an honorable mention.
** Alya's lack of fact-checking, borderline illegal antics in "Lady Wifi", general disregard for privacy and ethics and relentless pursuit of Ladybug's real identity get the Ladyblog labeled as a tabloid by one of her idols. And posting her interview with Lila, which was full of holes that even a cursory examination would have uncovered, was the final nail in the coffin.
** Lila's mother is not remotely happy to find out that her daughter has been lying to her ''for months'' and waves Lila's diplomatic immunity so she can be punished for truancy. Then when Lila attacks her mother, she's charged with assault since she did this in front of ''multiple'' witnesses, causing Lila's whole life to fall apart.
*** And despite all of the above, Lila's CompulsiveLiar tendencies remain in full effect and when they fail, she sees her mother's actions as a betrayal because she's completely self-centered.

* Despite Izuku's best efforts in ''FanFic/WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer'', Inko quickly notices his unusual behavior and learns he has a GenderBender Quirk. While Izuku has a near genius level intellect, he's still a five year old trying to hide something from his attentive mother.

Added DiffLines:

** At the same time, while Marinette is much happier in Mendeleiev's classroom, the damage done by years of harassment doesn't just magically go away. When Chloe ''does'' manage to get at her, Marinette freezes, struggling against her old instincts and to stand up against somebody who terrorized her for so long. Nor did Chloe ''forget'' what her weaknesses are, and she's still able to get under her skin.
** In keeping with his usual non-confrontational persona, Adrien advises Aurore not to get involved when they see that Chloe's cornered Marinette. Why? Because Chloe's not used to being challenged, and he's afraid that she'll be akumatized if she doesn't get her way. Whereas Marinette will supposedly be 'fine' because she's used to it. This earns him a DeathGlare, killing Aurore's crush on him for good, and when Marinette learns about his attitude, she attempts to explain to him that ''she'' could have been akumatized instead.
