!! Squad Jam 5 (Volumes 11 - ?)
* In addition to the Alternative Equipment, [=SJ5=] has an additional rule; upon entry into the arena, all teams are seperated from one another and the entire map is obscured by a pitch-white fog, leaving all participants on their lonesome with no clue where their enemies or friends could be. While it's ultimately part of the game and LLENN takes it in her stride, it's still a rather unnerving scenario to find yourself in, as one player LLENN finds displays by firing wildly into the mist with a fear-stricken face after he hears LLENN loading her Vorpal Bunnies.
* After they're both sent flying to an abandoned mansion by one of DOOM's explosions, LLENN searches for Vivi only to find her impaled on the mansions security fence, with the sharps coming out of her backside, into her stomach just below her lung, and another in her left thigh. It's noted from LLENN's perspective that the grisly scenes status as this is in part due to the comparative realism; things like getting shot or stabbed, while certainly something that can happen, are not things you'd expect if you live a peaceful life in Japan with it's strict and gun weapon laws. Being impaled on a fence, while not a common sighting, ''is'' something that can happen to anyone if they were to take take a sudden fall.

Pitohui in general is the biggest source of bone-chilling moments throughout the show.

!! Squad Jam 3 (Volumes 4 - 5)
* The way Pito kills MMTM is particularly horrible by IRL standards, and might make you paranoid around sprinklers; she activates the sprinkler system to cover them in water, and then activating the malfunctioning generator, causing the electricity to get absorbed by the water as it falls and electrocutes them.
** Before the TheReveal, [[NothingIsScarier the way it's framed in that no one, not even the reader, knows what killed them]], with them having seemingly just dropped dead for no discernible reason, can also be pretty unnerving.
* Pitohui killing Ervin. He rushes into the bridge to interrogate her on the ship crashing into the building the rest of T-S were on, only to find her laying motionless next the captain's chair, unresponsive with her KTR laying next to her, with the lack of a dead tag being the only indicator that she's still alive. When Ervin gets contacted by David and Eva, he reports to them Pito's status, getting more and more unnerved. The both of them figure it out, but are unable to warn Ervin before Pito skewers his head from behind with her Photon Sword.
--> David: [[OhCrap Ervin! Get away from that crazy bitch!]]

!! Test Play (Volume 6)
* Let's be honest; the idea of [[AxCrazy Pitohui]] having a bazooka is scary in itself...
* After TheReveal of true nature of the "[=NPCs=]", reading the epilogue from Jacob's perspective can be rather unnerving. Without the previous context, it just seems like you're reading about a military veteran going through one of the worse {{Trauma Conga Line}}s a soldier could go through; he gets amnesia and yet is still expected to lead, the enemy breaches the castle and kills two of his men, he captures one of the perpetrators only to discover they're a ChildSoldier[[note]] bear in mind that Jacob himself has a daughter[[/note]], tries to keep them alive only to watch them ''[[DrivenToSuicide kill themselves by caving their own head in]]'', three more of his men, one of which is his BestFriend, get killed, then the same girl he watched kill themselves earlier barges in, kills his last man, and then kills him while talking about she enjoys it. No ''wonder'' he decided to retire!
