** Maria/"Maria"'s [[TransformationHorror transformation]] into the [[OneWingedAngel demonic form they use for the battle]] is EXTREMELY freakish, from the "blinking" between a human-looking shape and a demonic looking... ''thing'', to the [[HellIsThatNoise demonic screech]] they emit once the transformation is complete. The entire sequence, though brief, is pure terror from start to finish.
** The boss [[MadnessMantra endlessly repeating James' name]], once she's defeated and awaiting death. It's a perfect blend of horror and [[TearJerker/SilentHill2 sadness]].

*** The ''Leave'' ending dialogue is probably the most outright frightening, due to Maria outright saying that ''James deserves to die'' right at the end of it. The sheer malice and rage from her voice will give you goosebumps in an instant.
*** The ''Maria'' ending dialogue is more understated than the others, but still quite unsettling. For one thing, you're not fighting Maria; you're fighting [[ThroughTheEyesOfMadness a manifestation of Mary]], which is disturbing in of itself. For another thing, the simple fact that she states [[ThisIsUnforgivable that she doesn't forgive James for killing her in a relatively quiet, but critical tone]]. The entire thing plays out like Mary herself came back from the grave to get her revenge on her husband, and it's not pretty, to say the least.

The entire thing plays out like Mary herself came back from the grave to get her revenge on her husband, and it's not pretty, incredibly harrowing.
*** The ''Rebirth'' pre-fight dialogue has James make it clear that he's unable to move on from Mary. In response, Maria mocks him for it right before her transformation. The sheer LackOfEmpathy she shows is ''terrifying'',
to say the least.least, and it further underscores what Maria's true purpose is; [[{{Tulpa}} to torment James, and feed on his fragile emotions]].
*** The ''In Water'' pre-fight dialogue is more understated compared to the other pre-fight scenes, but still unsettling. The sheer smug possessiveness that Maria speaks with before she transforms makes her sound downright ''evil''. This line just clinches it:
--->'''Maria''': ''I'll never let you have your Mary back!''
