Carol vainly tries to resuscitate the baby, with the mother screaming at her all the while that it was *Carol* who dropped the child, but it's to no avail- the child is dead. What makes it even worse is that after the autopsy comes back it's revealed that the child already died in utero- *two days prior*. The child never even had a chance.
