Given that the character of ComicBook/Venom is considered to be one of the supervillains/anti-heroes that ushered in UsefulNotes/TheDarkAgeOfComicBooks, and that this movie is an adaptation of a peak-Nineties storyline, it's safe to assume that this movie has its fair share of Pun Ve-narm. A lot of these have even become memes. Naturally, it all falls into NarmCharm for some.

The thing about Venom biting off heads is a general example and a regular flaw, not a funny thing. The last bullet is a non-funny Fridge Logic flaw.

* The numerous times Venom bites people's heads off comes off as less terrifying due to the fact there is no blood.

* Eddie getting curb stomped by Carlton Drake in Riot mode. Eddie is a burly guy, as played by Creator/TomHardy, even without the symbiote, and is implied to workout to keep himself in shape (a dumbbell can be seen in his apartment), whereas Drake is played by the lean Creator/RizAhmed. While in the sequel Eddie gets beaten up by the significantly leaner Cletus Kasady too, it is at least justified there because Kasady is a violent AxCrazy serial killer. Carlton Drake is… an industrialist. While he could’ve had experience in some form of martial arts, it is never stated he does and he proceeds to easily kick the much bigger and physically imposing Eddie’s butt, with little to no effort making it chuckleworthy.
** This is thankfully AvertedTrope when the two fight without their symbiotes. Eddie kicks Drake's scrawny ass.

* Remember how creepy and awesome that shot from the second trailer of the symbiote forming around Eddie's face in order to eat a guy was? * The scene of Eddie freaking out on the medical table is presented as the teaser's MoneyMakingShot. It...doesn't quite work as intended, which isn't helped by it being sped up, making it look like a parody.

** Hardy's line reading of "You're not real, you are just in my head." sounds like he's suffering from ElmuhFuddSyndwome. At worst, he sounds like Creator/AdamSandler's signature Manchild babbling. However there's some speculation that, based on the context of the scene and Eddie's stumbling movements, he's actually drunk, or perhaps even overdosed on medication (considering he was seen taking a bunch of pills, thinking he's sick). That and it could be a case of SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome, as it's unlikely anyone would keep the mental clarity to speak normally as an alien parasite is slowly bonding with their body.

* Eddie quite casually discussing cannibalism as one of the symbiote's favorite activities. Pure complaining; misuse. Not played for drama, etc.

* The symbiote's pronoun usage is wildly inconsistent throughout the movie, making it seem like the filmmakers knew about this aspect of the character, but didn't actually understand how it's supposed to work. In a few instances, the symbiote uses the traditional Venom "we/us" plural pronouns... when referring to just itself. The comic character uses plural pronouns to refer to Venom as the amalgamated being formed by the connection between the symbiote and its host (i.e. two beings in one, hence the "we" in "we are Venom"), and uses singular terms when referring to just one or the other. It makes no sense for the symbiote here to refer to itself as a singular entity as "we" when it uses "me/I" elsewhere for the exact same purpose. Again, the filmmakers clearly knew that Venom uses plural pronouns to refer to himself in the comics and other media, but not why he does that.
* The symbiotes all having ridiculously edgy names like "Venom" or "Riot". Especially since, in the comics, the symbiotes themselves are nameless, and names like "Venom" were coined by either the hosts or the media, and refer to the being formed by the connection between the symbiote and the host. The name "Venom" in particular came from Eddie saying that the symbiote felt like "toxic venom coursing through my veins". So, no, Venom is not the symbiote, the symbiote is a part of Venom.
* While some will try to defend lines like "turd in the wind" and "lungs, eyes, pancreas" on the basis that they were in the comics and bring a Dark Age feel to the movie, that doesn't change the widely held opinion that they are still badly-written lines from a widely-disliked period of comic history that sound absolutely cringeworthy being spoken aloud by real people. There's a reason the 90s was called the DARK Age, after all.

** Movie trailers cutting quotes out of context to form a new sentence is nothing new, but the editing on the line "you will only hurt bad people" is particularly poor, and it's very easy to hear that the line has been cut together out of separate pieces of dialogue.
** How Jenny Slate's character pronounces "symbiote" "symb-eye-ote" instead of the more traditional "sym-bee-ote". Plus, her giving firm, equal stress to all three syllables like she's speaking some foreign language. Luckily, this was cut from the theatrical release.

* The JumpScare (on both sides of the fourth wall) where Venom suddenly shouts Eddie's name as he brushed his teeth would have been much more scary if not for the fact that the latter ScreamsLikeALittleGirl. There's also the fact that he somehow throws himself backwards so hard that he crashes into the bathroom wall.

** The guy who Carlton Drake subjects to OrificeInvasion in the third trailer would have been disturbing, if not for the victim's bland expression.

** Venom's violent threats to his enemies are this if they're not aggressively tasteless BlackComedy. His threat to mutilate a man until he's "like a turd on the wind" is particularly groan-inducing, especially coming after a genuinely frightening threat. WebAnimation/HowItShouldHaveEnded was even driven by this to make a video on just the trailer for the very first time, in which he mangles a bunch of other sayings.

* Towards the end of the film, it's revealed that . This is his entire reason for wanting to save the Earth.
* Despite angrily forcing Eddie to spit out cooked meats because they're no longer living animals, the symbiote develops a taste for tater tots, and it practically demands that Eddie buy some during a conversation in the ending. The director admitted in an interview that the writers just thought it was funny and put it in the script. It unfortunately invites comparisons to a similar tots-focused scene in Film/NapoleonDynamite as a result.
* Drake having bonded with Riot is treated as a huge shocking twist going into the final battle... except for the fact that the audience was already well aware of it and saw the whole process. It feels very much like a consequence of ExecutiveMeddling to give Riot more screentime.
* Right after Eddie is separated from the symbiote, a rather obvious ADR overdub replaces the intended "fuck you" with the much less vicious "we're done".
