* FamilialChiding: A series that focuses on friendship and how to be a better person, there are a few instances of this.
** "Gryphon the Brush Off" has Fluttershy, who was recently bullied by Gilda, wonder about the wisdom of Pinkie Pie's plans to throw a party for Gilda.
---> '''Pinkie Pie:''' Don't worry your pretty little head about mean old Gilda. Your auntie Pinkie Pie's got it all taken care of.
---> '''Fluttershy:''' ''(irked)'' I'm a year older than you.
** After Discord learns that the Elements of Harmony have been returned to the Tree of Harmony, and he cannot be turned to stone by them again, Fluttershy calls him out on his seeming eagerness to return to his former ways.
---> '''Fluttershy:''' But our friendship remains. And if you want to remain friends, you'll stop thinking whatever it is you're thinking and help us clean up.
---> '''Discord:''' Fine. But I don't do windows.

First is Bond Villain Stupidity as about creating the stories conflict not fixing it. Second is Forgot About Her Powers as villains are not the central conflict, but occasional.

* JustEatGilligan:
** Villainous example. None of the villains ever realize that knocking out Twilight (and later Starlight in Chrysalis' case) is a much better idea than just breaking her spirit and/or denying her access to her magic.
** Considering that Twilight was able to block Discord's magic near the end of [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E1TheReturnOfHarmonyPart1 Season 2's premiere]], there's no reason for the Mane Six to ''not'' use AntiMagic on the other villains as well, since the villains rely exclusively on their magic.

** Discord's magic appears to have no limitations or consistent rules (which makes sense, you know, it's chaos magic). In season three, he is convinced to use his powers for good, and although it takes him awhile to get the hang of it, he eventually proves himself to be a relatively trustworthy being who no longer uses his magic with negative intentions. As such, every conflict after this raises the question of "Why don't the characters just call up and Discord and have him snap his fingers and instantly solve the problem?" In minor problems this can be overlooked, but even in incredibly dire situations, no one considers contacting Discord. As such, in most conflicts, Discord is completely absent, and when he isn't, there's some sort of atypical ailment that renders him currently unable to fix the problem.

* ForWantOfANail: In "Cutie Re-Mark", Starlight Glimmer, trying to take revenge on Twilight Sparkle and her friends, travels back in time to stop a young Rainbow Dash from performing a Sonic Rainboom, an event that has been known to be responsible for each of the Mane 6 to get their cutie marks and connect them together. By preventing this event from happening, Starlight has managed to keep their friendship from forming leading to a negative future where a former villain manages to succeed and take over Equestria.
