* AmbiguousSituation: Is the player character really Nerevar reborn, or are they just someone chosen by the Emperor and/or Azura as part of an engineered fulfillment of the prophecies? While there are plenty of indications that the events of the game are predestined, the fact that there have also been multiple supposed Nerevarines who failed in one way or another suggests that a few Daedric visions alone does not a prophesied hero make. Dagoth Ur asks as much during his confrontation, and the game allows the player to decide for themselves how to reply.

** Nobody has a consistent story about the Battle of the Red Mountain, and you can find multiple versions, [[RashomonStyle most of them told by liars or people who weren't there and didn't know anyone who was]], and with [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation various stories casting the parties involved in very different lights]]. The only consistent story beats are 1) The battle was fought at Red Mountain, which erupted as a result of the battle, 2) Dwemer and Chimer were involved, 3) the Heart of Lorkhan was involved, 4) The Dwemer all vanished, 5) The Tools of Kagrenac fell into Chimer hands, 6) Indoril Nerevar died, and 7) the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur ended up using the Tools on the Heart to become gods themselves, and in doing so betrayed Nerevar in some way (at very least he'd made them promise not to use the Tools and they did anyway, and some versions have them outright murder him so he can't interfere), and finally 8) this pissed off Azura, who created the Nerevarine Prophecy and cursed the Chimer to become the Dunmer.
