* In ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'', the mother of Hank and Dean was unknown until the seventh season when the Action Man tells Hank that their mother was an actress who Rusty scared off by being obsessive and emotionally smothered her until she stopped taking his calls, changed her name, and moved to another state. It's unclear at what point she had the boys or why she decided to leave them with their father however. In TheMovie it's revealed [[spoiler:that this was [[UnreliableNarrator a misunderstanding]]; their mother was the ''daughter'' of the woman Action Man thought it was, and she never actually gave birth to the boys as Rusty simply used her eggs to make them in-vitro with an artificial womb]].

* In ''WesternAnimatioon/MyLittlePonyMakeYourMark'', Misty Brightdawn is raised by her abusive adoptive mother Opaline, the BigBad of the show, with Misty's birth parents nowhere to be seen. Misty's birth father is then revealed to be [[spoiler:Alphabittle]] in "Family Trees", but her birth mother is never seen or mentioned.

* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'':

** The Rowdy Ruff Boys are the identical example. No woman necessary! Mojo Jojo, lacking Chemical X, made his [[AppliedPhlebotinum phlebotinum]] out of...more mundane and disgusting substances. If you interpret it differently, it could be argued that their mother is [[spoiler:Mojo Jojo]]. Or [[spoiler:the toilet]].

** An issue of the comic book had the girls excitedly discussing what kind of mommy they'd want and who'd be right for the Professor and the Prof couldn't get a word in edgewise. At the story's end, they tell the Professor to not rush at finding a mom for them.

* {{Averted|Trope}} partially in ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan:'' Peter's parents are still dead, but Harry's mom is alive, unlike in most other continuities. {{Word Of|God}} Creator/GregWeisman says that it just seemed odd to him for all of the ThreeAmigos to be from single-parent families. It might as well be in here too, since Harry's mom seems to be emotionally distant.

* Julie Kane's mother (who apparently had her with Abraham Kane) is nowhere to be seen in ''{{WesternAnimation/Motorcity}}''. Also Tennie lives with her father and her mother is absent.

** No mention is ever made of Willow's biological mother, and the implied existence of HomosexualReproduction in the setting means it's entirely possible that she never had one to begin with.
** Gus's mother is never mentioned, and unlike with Willow there's nothing to go on one way or the other.

* ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo'': Mitchell's dad is always seen, but his mom is never shown. She was mentioned in "Detective Mindy", but that's it.

** [[AlphaBitch Chloé]] is a spoiled daddy's girl, but her parents have been separated since she was a toddler, with her mother Audrey going to New York to advance her career and rarely returning to Paris. Granted, when she ''does'' return... let's just say [[AbusiveParents Chloé would probably be much better off without Audrey in her life]].
** For that matter, [[BetaBitch Sabrina]]'s, Alix’s and Myléne’s mothers haven't appeared either, although Sabrina’s mother and her father seem to be close.

** [[spoiler:Despite the mystery of his father's identity being a major plot point throughout Season 2, there is absolutely no mention at all of King's biological ''mother'', in which Eda already fills such a maternal role through adoption]].

** In ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers'', no mention is made of Spike Witwicky's mother.

* In ''WesternAnimation/JakersTheAdventuresOfPiggleyWinks'', Ferny's mom is missing. It's eventually revealed that she's sadly passed away, although it's unknown how.

* In the ''WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}}'' episode "Hopping Mall", Sprig confides to Anne that his mother passed away when he was younger. It was revealed in "After the Rain" that Sprig and Polly's parents died in a heron attack.
