Kaoru received an injury that prevented her from playing sports and made the person who injured her [[DrivenToSuicide try to kill herself out of shame]]. Satomi's childhood pet cat died and she blamed herself for not listening to it. Mirai was a NerdGlasses-wearing student ostracized by everyone else and her only companions were teddy-bears. Niko, as a little girl, accidentally shot her friends while playing around with a gun. Saki was caught in a horrible car accident with her [[IncestSubtext younger sisterd]] Miyuki, who died. Then they all get [[BrainwashedAndCrazy witch kissed]] and [[PsychicAssistedSuicide jump off a building]]...where they are saved by Kazumi.

''Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice'' is a SpinOff {{Manga}} of ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'', written by Masaki Hiramatsu and illustrated by Takashi Tensugi. It ran in the monthly magazine ''[[Magazine/MangaTimeKirara Manga Time Kirara Forward]]'' starting in January 24th 2011. It features a different set of characters in a new plot separate from the anime, but in the same universe.

After nearly two years since it began, ''Kazumi Magica'' reached the end of its serialization on November 24th, 2012.

Unfortunately, it turns out Jyubey wasn't actually able to purify soul gems, as he only removed the visible darkness without actually removing the corruption itself. What a [[JerkAss jerkass]].]]

* RetGone: [[spoiler:After learning the truth about witches, the Pleiades turn on Kyuubey, and attempt to "erase" him from their city. They cast a spell that makes all Incubators invisible to everyone in their city, as well as altering their own memories so that they do not remember ever meeting Kyuubey, replacing him in their memories with the false Incubator they created]].

* WrongContextMagic: The Pleiades Saints can do things that were never even implied to be possible in the original series, like creating a sentient Incubator with the ability to remove darkness from Soul Gems ([[spoiler:except not really]]) and [[spoiler:repeatedly reviving their dead friend with a mixture of human and witch parts]].

** Kazumi's friends aren't the only magical girl team named after the Pleiades Cluster with an alien TeamPet. Bonus for Kazumi's CuteWitch hat, and the fact that ''Anime/HoukagoNoPleiades'' is known as ''[[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor Wish]] Upon the Pleiades'' in English. It also appears as a cameo book title.
