Shortly after the [[RippedFromTheHeadlines devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan's Tohoku region in March 2011]], the town of [[CallBack Morioh]] is beginning to recover, but the landscape is now marred by massive faults that local children have started calling "Wall Eyes". One day, university student Yasuho Hirose discovers a young man who has lost all of his memories buried in the ground near one of the Wall Eyes, and resolves to help him find out who he is. After an apparent false lead regarding a ship's doctor named Yoshikage Kira who they instead discover has died, Yasuho nicknames the man Josuke and pulls strings to get him temporarily adopted by the influential Higashikata family.

The newly dubbed Josuke Higashikata then begins the arduous task of trying to piece together who exactly he used to be. However, this investigation into his previous identity begins to uncover even more mysteries that link the destinies of the Higashikata family who have been cursed with a mysterious illness for generations, Dr. Holy Joestar who is the only known living descendant of 19th century American jockey Johnny Joestar, her son the late Yoshikage Kira, and an associate of his named Josefumi Kujo. The answer to all these mysteries may be fruit that seems to have the miraculous ability to cure any ailment, but it is also fiercly sought after by a race of humanoid beings who can turn their bodies to stone.
