Spell My Name With An S is now Inconsistent Spelling and is only about official translations.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Aside from some weird one-off spellings like Josephmi and Caato, as well as "Ozon Baby" and "Nut King Call", the main culprit is the mysterious EquivalentExchange-producing fruit. The Japanese text is ロカカカ or ''Rokakaka'', which was used in fan translations up until chapter 92 when English text spelling out "Locacaca" is shown on a case of the fruit's concentrated liquid extract. Fan translations now split the difference with "Rokakaka" used for the fruit and "Locacaca" being used for the liquid extract, since it's unclear whether the latter only refers to the extract or the fruit in general.

* QuestForIdentity: The main plot of the first half of ''[=JoJolion=]'' is Josuke's ongoing attempt to find out who he is.is.
* RiddleForTheAges: Several of the deeper mysteries of the plot are never given a real explaination:
** The origin of the Higashikata Stone Curse is never explained, nor if and how it's related to Rock Humans.
** What the Wall Eyes actually are and why they awakened after Morioh's earthquake is never explained. Yasuho's narration in the first chapter hints they look like they're 'protecting the town from a threat coming from the sea', but this never ties into the plot of the Part at all.
** The human bite marks that both Yasuho and Josuke receive after getting close to the Wall Eyes, and seemingly awakens their Stands, are never explained and never mentioned after the first few chapters of the story.

* GardenOfEden: Similar to the Biblical references of Part 7 dealing with the corpse of Jesus, Part 8 has quite a few references to the story of Genesis. Josuke, like Adam, is said to be the man who came from the soil (and is even famously NakedOnArrival). A good chunk of the plot also revolves around a fruit (the coincidences resulting in its creation once being attributed to divine providence) that the pursuit of which only seems to cause [[spoiler:further misery]]. When the fruit is finally [[spoiler:"consumed" for good]] at the end of the Part, it's by the actions of [[spoiler:a woman who explicitly says she's taking on the "sin."]].

* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: While by no means the only part to experience this trope, JoJolion is notable in the sheer number of characters that appear different after their introductions:
** Mamezuku's face is different in his first depiction, looking chubbier, with rounder eyes and what appear to be freckles on his nose. His hair also seems to be longer, while his outfit is decorated in more plant-themeing then when he appears in person. The colored scans also colored him green initially.
** Joshu's [[AnimeHiar already weird hair]] was very different early on, being noticably shorter, having another tone on the sides of his head, and looking far less like sheets of paper then it was later depicted.
** Jobin has an entierly different haircut, lacking spikes, the shaved part on the side of his head, and having a ponytail. His outfit is also very different, being a suit and tie with more exaggerated spikes.
** Mitsuba went through a complete redesign after her lengthy absence after the start of the part. She also entierly lacked the arrow motif in her first design.
** Kei appears to have shaved hair in her first appearence. This would later be changed to having her hair be pulled back into a bun, which she in turn lets down upon confronting Josuke... which she then puts back into a bun upon returning from her [[TheBusCameBack similarily lengthy absence.]]
** Josefumi entierly lacks hair on the sides of his head intially, only having the pompudour. His eyes are also different at first, seeming to have pupils the same color as his irises. He also initially had the joestar birthmark, but this was quietly retconned away.

** '''Curses of the land''': There's several different curses in Morioh, most of which being related to rocks or earth; several characters try to find a way to remove the curses they're afflicted by - sometimes at a terrible cost. The firstborn children of the Higashikata family are afflicted by Rock Disease, leading other relatives to sacrifice themselves to save the victims. Milagro Man is an independent Stand that curses its victims with ever-increasing wealth, forcing the victim to pass the curse to someone else. The ginko biloba trees of Shakedown Road have been used by the residents to extort other people, and were possibly the cause of Johnny Joestar's death. The Rokakaka fruit, thanks to its EquivalentExchange properties, can heal people but petrifies certain body parts in exchange. Josuke is cursed with amnesia and was found buried under the Wall Eyes, while Yasuho has been plagued by a Rock Insect [[spoiler:and a Rock Human]] during her youth. Finally, Morioh is infested by a high concentration of Rock Humans, which are described as both parasites of humanity and "part of the land"; their leader possesses the power of [[spoiler:inflicting "calamity" on anyone who pursues him, essentially cursing his opponents with extremely bad luck]].

* EquivalentExchange: The Rokakaka fruits are basically a HealingPotion, but the person who consumes the fruit loses another body part as [[TakenForGranite it becomes stone]]. Infertile women become pregnant, but they produce sand instead of milk. Elderly people missing teeth grow back stone ones. A famous baseball player heals his busted arm, but his jaw becomes solid stone. An elderly man grows back an amputated leg, but his eyes turn to stone and crumble away. There is one variety that does not apparently produce this exchange, [[spoiler:and it's the variety that apparently helped in the fusion of Yoshikage Kira and Josefumi Kujo into the hero Josuke Higashikata]], and that quality is what makes it desirable to a multitude of antagonistic parties.
