* Arlong in ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/37723147/chapters/108972489 A Convergent Devil]]'' starts off arrogant and certain of victory. By the end of his fight with Luffy, he's hiding inside Nami's old room and praying Luffy doesn't find him. Luffy kills him by beating him against the entirety of the room to destroy the place.

** Part of the BittersweetEnding of ''VideoGame/LikeADragonInfiniteWealth'' is the implication that this will happen to [[spoiler:Kazuma Kiryu -- wasting away in a hospital, [[TheTopicOfCancer wheelchair-bound due to terminal cancer]], after around 35 years of adventure and many missed opportunities for a DyingMomentOfAwesome. Though potentially subverted with another implication that he can now peacefully FaceDeathWithDignity]].

** [[ThoseWackyNazis Rudolph Von Stroheim's army]] in Part 2's final battle. Doesn't get much more undignified than being mauled to death by ''a mutant squirrel''.

* UsefulNotes/{{Jesus}} of Nazareth's death (see Literature/TheFourGospels, Literature/TheBible) was most likely intended to be this. Crucifixion, even if later becoming associated with the Christ himself, is a humiliating and [[CruelAndUnusualDeath gruesome]] way to die, not to mention being crucified in a backwater province that happened to be under Roman control. As we know, this backfired ''[[DontCreateAMartyr spectacularly]]'' - and according to Christianity, that death didn't even [[BackFromTheDead last]]; making for an even greater backfire of the "undignified" part.\\

Sometimes overlaps with CruelAndUnusualDeath when the death is not just embarrassing, it's also horrific. Often overlaps with DeathByFallingOver. Another likely category of undignified death are victims of TheCanKickedHim, both because a bathroom is usually safe and it takes bizarre circumstances to die there, and because you're likely to be [[ShamefulStrip unclothed]] and/or [[NoDeadBodyPoops performing bodily functions]]. A supertrope to LameLastWords, since in some cases the last words actually an undignified death make. Also the default consequence of being TooDumbToLive, since there are few better ways to destroy your dignity than killing yourself through sheer idiocy. See also DroppedABridgeOnHim. ** Kakihara's death is also particularly ironic and undignified as he has spent the vast majority of the manga displaying extreme masochistic tendencies involving everything from basic bondage to repeated self-mutiliation. At first, he thinks he's found a kindred spirit in Ichi, the S to his M, only to soon realize that Ichi is unstable and incredibly dangerous. It's also something of an [[ironic death DeathByIrony]] since Kakihara had been shown throughout the series to enact tortures that stripped his victims of their dignity. He also speaks fondly of bisecting his penis while doing the same to one of Ichi's crew, but he certainly seems to not like the reality of it when it happens to him.

* Kakihara, the VillainProtagonist of ''Manga/IchiTheKiller'' has something of a [[RasputinianDeath Rasputinian Undignified Death]]: He's horrified to have to fight the ferocious Ichi but when he finally gets the guts to go and attack he triggers his opponent's fury and a swift kick from Ichi's razor-bladed shoes leaves him stripped naked and with his [[GroinAttack dick cut in two]]. Not ''cut off'', just mangled horribly and painfully. Following this, Kakihara decides he's had enough and tries to flee, managing to jump from the apartment building they were fighting on to end up hanging on another. Ichi pelts him with projectiles while he screams in terror before a bird finally comes to finish him off by shitting on his fingers holding himself up, causing him to lose his grip and fall to his death. Yeah...

** [[Characters/ASongOfIceAndFireTyrionLannister Tyrion Lannister]] kills his father, Tywin, while the latter is on the privy. He even [[NoDeadBodyPoops shits himself when he dies]]. Making it worse, Tyrion killed him by shooting him in the bowels with an arrow. The dead prostitute in his bed didn't help.

* A number of rock stars, including Music/JimiHendrix, [[Music/LedZeppelin John Bonham]], and [[{{Music/ACDC}} Bon Scott]], died by choking on their own vomit.
** This is an unfortunately common way for drug users to die, as 'downers' can suppress the gag reflex while also causing vomiting; the user aspirates while too stupored to save themselves.
